:weed:I'm a new grower using a grow tent
my question is when the seeds come through the soil do I put the lights on them
Or wait untill they have some leeves:joint:

You want some light on them as soon as you plant them, you just don't want too much light. Seedlings and young plants will do just fine under a low watt CFL or flourescent bulb, but HID lights may be too strong for them to handle.

the basic goal is to keep a trap containment of humidity over the site where you planted the seed.
A heating pad on Low setting underneath has helped also i notice. for the humidity trapping, you can use something as simple as saran wrap and some scotch tape or a rubberband to keep it snug over the top of your pot or container.

Yeah man, give them light. I started mine with a 150 Watt HPS! Just kept the light far enough away so it didn't burn my plants, but close enough to reduce stretching. Put your hand above the seedlings to feel how warm it is. Your hand should be comfortable. What kind of lights are you using?

I have them is covered nursery pots with a heat pad

they do not need light light until they sprout from the ground. if there are no leaves what do you think the light is doing? the root don't need it.
