What do you think of coco and perlite ? I’ve heard some people prefer to use only coco, and if you think coco and perlite is better, what ratio you recomend?
Coco and perlite are great. Keep in mind that you won't be growing organically. It's considered more hydroponic than anything. Gh flora trio works well with that medium. You could run with just gh flora nova bloom if mixing nutes isn't your thing.
I gave up on Coco years ago, got tired of getting burned by "hot" batches. Sometimes Coco is not treated properly will have whacky pH and do to you're plants what that soil did to yours. I think people bake it to neutralize it now, to much work for me personally. I use promix. Perlite wouldn't hurt that's for sure, you'll be watering a bit more. It will help with oxygen down in your root zone though. I would say it's going to be a benefit. As far as ratio, I've never mixed it up but I'd think like 1:10 perlite:Coco. I would experiment with that and see what works for you. I don't think you'd want to go 50/50 though or anything close. You could Google what potting soil looks like and then add perlite until it looks similar?I feel for ya and hope it works out, always some hiccups when you're starting out, hang in there
If it was me, I'd do 25% perlite. Promix is great too. The high porosity version with mycorrizae is good stuff. Again with promix it's more like hydro.
