Seifo...just wanted to add a little to help you understand...and I'm no expert. But the source of the N is really not something that the average grower manipulates. It's set by the manufacturer's who use the ratio of nitrates to nitrites as a way of buffering ph.

On the wet/dry cycle...the drying phase helps encourage root growth downward to reach the water level.

I used only black gold product until this year. Started some seeds in black gold seedling mix. They all came up, got about 2” tall, then the growth stalled.

Started some other seeds in a mixture of promix hp, fresh ewc and oyster shell flour and they took off.

Used the black gold seedling mix to start my veggies and the same thing happened. They stalled. Might be the black gold. I won’t use it anymore.
