Hey RIU!
Johnny here with my first serious grow!
You guy have been great helping so far.

Here are the specs.
2x 42watt CFL
2x 19watt CFL
1x PC fan with 12v power supply
1x Home made carbon filter
Soil - Walmart Brand
No nutes yet.

I germed 4 seeds only on survived and it's doing ok. I put 2 seeds in the soil about 2 days after the germed one peaked it head out. In a few days/weeks I am adding a scrog screen.

I modded an extension cable onto the thermistor on an alarm clock for temp reading. xD

Max temp so far is 102.2*F :-(.
I need help with that QUICK!
Will adding an intake fan help?!

I know you guys will be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance!:mrgreen:

Here are some picks of the set up, clock with temp reading, plant and a screen I made for scrog.

Pic #1 - Blanket over cab to block light. (causing heat problem?)
Pic #2 - Inside growcab.
Pic #3 - Clock with temp reading (101.2*F :-()
Pic #4 - SCROG screen. this will come into use later.
Pic #5 & 6 - About 3 days old. The first set of leaves are burned. I had to remove the shell of the seed too. I hope it will survive.

I moved that lower light away from the cup and it dropped the temp down to 98.8*F.
I am going to add an intake fan if it doesn't drop below 90.0*F in half an hour.
If that doesn't work how can I add another exhaust in parallel to the one already in there?
or should I build another carbon filter set up?

i think you are missing good ventilation because the air is being pushed out but can't get pulled in from somewhere else... I think you need an intake. It probably doesn't even need to be another fan. just a hole for intake. btw is that aluminum foil?

No it's that mylar type emergency blanket they sell in the camping section at walmart.
I have an intake. You see that box shaped thing in the upper right hand side on the back wall? There is a hole behind that.
I put that box over it to block light from escaping.

I just read this... maybe the mylar emergency stuff is doing it like tin foil...
Isn't that stuff used to keep people warm in times of emergency? like when they pull someone out of a frozen lake or something?
Yea, but it's also sealed with insulation for smell control so that would do it too.
I need a cooling solution.
I'm thinking about building a sort of "cool tube" or more of a hood for my CFLS.
Any one have expirience with this?
I need cable management help too.
Thanks for the help Cane.

Ok.
From moving the bulbs I got the temp to hover around 100.0*F.
I need help getting the temp down really bad!
I've been leaving the doors open when I can and I took the blanket off but it's still right around 100.0*F.

I NEED HELP! :(

Add a fan/vent at the top, as heats rises it can escape easier.
Thanks for the tip.
I just removed the lower two bulbs or now.
When they get bigger I'll have a new filter exhaust set up.

The temps are now down to about 95*F. :/ eh. it is ok for now.

it looks like you have your venting backwards...the scrubber and exhaust should be at the top and a passive intake at the base, it is also best to keep the intake as obstruction free as possible to let as much fresh air in as you can

it does no good to keep light out if your not letting air in...good fresh air is just as essential to plant life as lights and water...

Haha. they might notice. an intake from outside would make it like 5*F in there.

another good way is just 2 simple fans, one for intaking cool air from outside the grow room and another at the other end, blowing out hot air.

Also if this isn't doable, try opening that little area, take off the blanket and put some other type of lining. Or if you do keep the blanket, try to open it up and camoflaging it.

Either way great little setup :blsmoke: ya just need to get those temps below 90 degrees man! That's deadly, especially for seedlings!

I'd say comfortable temperature is lower than 85.

Hit me up if you need anymore help. Just remember, time is of the essence and even purchasing a cheap $10-20 fan can make all the difference. Good luck brah. :bigjoint:

Thanks Chowda!
I have more fans the only problem is the sound like mini jet engines when I plug them in.
They say 12VDC but I run them through a 7.4VDC adapter and it's like a race car.
I might try to find a 5VDC adapter.
Would the amps provide to much power too? its a 150amp fan and a 300amp power supply.

New pics soon.

Yea I might pick some up if I get a chance.
I need silence though. The pc fans make it sound like a computer is on so it's not bad.
