they are good cobs that perform as well as others

again there are chips that are equal in efficacy for cheaper. Paying more for the name on the chip may be worth it to you, but for the typical grower who just wants efficient chips at a good price there is no advantage to spend more on chips that arent any more efficient than the cheaper ones.

I still know why everyone is buying the other cobs. It's price that's making your decisions and Cree is making a big mistake with those chips because you guys are cheap lol. After building my LM561c boards at an estimated 170lm/w at 300 watts I can't even pretend to be interested. The spread of light is so good that i hardly have my lights at 200 watts, meaning I'm prolly around 180 lm/w. I understand they are pushing 1800mA but at 1.8amp my lights would be 162ish lm/w but the light would be 365watts give or take.

It's nice to see improvements either way... that being said I believe samsung will have a upgrade to S7 bin at some point for like 2% better efficiency, not really worth it but I guess it's better!

Samsung is already moving on to the LM301B. Doubt there will ever be an S7 bin.

we might be cheap but we are not stupid :) .
So anyone show any interest for those DBs you've been auctioning for awhile? most of us are cheap :)

I'm not sure if setting up a super efficient COB bank is the right move for all.
It normally costs more as you use more COBs at lower power. Considering you still need 3 of those banks to really compete with a 1000W HID over the same floor space.
Maybe OK in a tent or box. We needed to cover a large floorplan so we just brute forced it with cheapies.

SO, how does this compare to CMX22 for example?

DB should be 5-8% more efficient than CD bin, considering that's what the bins mean.

The whole trade-off hinges on your cost of power. If your electrical cost is cheap it makes less sense. If your profit margin is high and your initial capital is low then cheaper is better!
