New cob light setup Citizen or vero 29S? looking for best bang for your buck chip

I wouldn't run 1K watts of hps or 700w of COB's in a 4x4 lol. To me they're both overkill. And quite frankly that just won't work for me in my situation with the temps where I live. Not every grow is the same. We can agree to disagree.on this.
850W in a 4x4.. 1200PPFD... Not overkill, it's perfect. I look forward to seeing what j get because of its some crazy numbers... I'll be pumped.. But no one has pushed that much power so it's hard to tell

any one know where I can find a 140 pin heatsink everyone seems to be out of stock. Are there ones that aren't predrilled?

6x vero 29 @1400ma via (1) HLG 320H-c1400b ($150+99+60 for active cooling and materials to build rail).= $310ish

Put em all on one long rail for your odd space..

Intel fans off ebay. Aluminum from Home depot. Project box, wagos, wire, uxcells, O-hooks and plug

I wouldn't waste your time using intel fans and active cooling. Passive cooling is so much nicer. The SST120's would be perfect for those cobs at that current. Pre-drilled and ready to go as seen HERE.

Yes definitely want to go passive sinks for sure, what would be the max watts would you run those 120s passively? curious on what your thoughts are new vero 29 vs ClU 1818 ?

They are rated up to 65w so 1400ma will not push their limits. I wouldn't have a preference on cobs, photons are photons so pick your spectrum and whatever the best deal at the time is. The heatsinks are pre-drilled for either.

I have 8 of the same heatsinks and Vero 29 (gen 6) running at up to 1400ma and the surface of the heatsink on the opposite side of the cob has not gotten over 40°c but I don't run at full strength. The heat is so minimal, especially with good airflow.

any advice on the spectrum and cri ?, this will be a flower only light, from the looks of things 3500k 80 seems to be pretty popular, also are you running your 8 zeros on 2 drivers?

if only we could get some decent prices on cobs an heatsinks up here in Canada!!

I will be aiming for both optimum PPFD as well as efficiency >50% or more...

my once flowering cabinet/room is 5ft (W) x 2 ft (D) x 6.5ft (High), growing scrog style

my other flowing space is a small 2.0ft (W) x 20'' (D) x 8.5 ft high


id go for 30-35W/SF and theres a number of ways you can do it

youd need 350W for the first space and about 100 for the second

in the large space id do either 4 x citi 1825s (85W each), or 10 citi 1212s at 35W each

and 4x citi 1212 @ 25W each in the smaller space

im into 3000k now over 3500k. I think I agree with @Rahz who thinks it creates more leaf mass in veg. (may be anecdotal but i like my results ;))

looking for efficiency a bit more as it is 23 cents a kWh where i live, i was wondering about the 4 1825s what efficiency would i get with these?

also, what are the new lights you are getting in, should i hold off on the citizen cobs??
