New and very confused

Hello,

I am a complete newbie to this. Lol, I had some seeds that I got from my mom, (don’t judge she is a cancer patient) and I decided to throw it in some soil for s&g.. I got it to sprout and been on YouTube ever since trying to find out what to do. My goal is to help her get some decent meds by growing them myself. I am not trying to start a grow factory. (Don’t have the space) just maybe 2-3 plants for her to be content. I live in a medical state so it not a problem to have them but I have no idea how to get started. I wanted to do one indica and one Sativa for a good balance for her. Can anyone help me find a site that sells just a few seeds to get started in the states? And can someone give me any info on this one I have started. Any information will be greatly appreciated thanks

Welcome to RIU, OK so lets start with seeds, theres probably heaps of site in the states to find seeds, however I have used GYO seed bank (USA seedbank) and they were good and arrived quickly,
Before we can give advice on how to start, we need to know if you plan on indoors or outdoors?
As for your pic, it's looking OK man keep giving it light and not to much water, my only other advice is this, if your keen to get into growing research is the key, keep reading on this site, buy growing book there not normal to much $$, buy them digitally and you will always have them.

I wanted to do a small indoor grow in my basement, maybe 3 plants at the most.. my research is what led me to you wonderful people. Do you have any suggestions on which books I should start with? As for this little bud it been on a 8-12 hour CFL light cycle and I only water it when the pot is light. It’s a mystery seed I don’t know the strain lol

Need a medical card and a Grow book to start.

I used Jorje Cervantes and Ed rosenthals books.

Ed’s book has excellent growroom build info.

Somewhere around here is a list of free books link. I don’t have it in my phone. Maybe someone will chime in. Every pot book for 30 years is in that list. Maybe not some newer ones.

Oh and put that seedling on lights at least 18 hrs to veg.

Welcome kk, I think that MMG has given you a good start. I have also found a lot of good info for growing here.
The next consideration would be lighting and climate control. There is a direct relation of heat load vs photons generated by a light source. Using better efficiency technology gives you more light and less heat for each watt of power you use. Being able to keep room temps around 80degF with as much light as you can afford will give you best results.
There is a bunch of info on indoor setups in the Indoor forum.

Thank you all so much... We are working on getting her med card the prices keep changing. She has an appointment this week for the Doc. I did notice that some site sell starter kits is that a good option to go with they range from about 160-1000. I just wanted something simple for her. As for seeds any recommendations to start with?

I would start with something that is known to be easy on new growers, like Northern Lights. I also think you should consider LED strips over CFLs. They are really quite cheap. Check these out: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bridgelux/BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-B3/976-1734-ND/7907663

How much are you willing to invest in this? I can be more specific if I have that value.

Second this. Marijuana Grower's Handbook should be in every grower's bookshelf. Just for the appendices alone of nutrient deficiencies and pest remediation methods.

I'm less enthused about Cervantes' book. Don't get me wrong, his youtube videos are an AMAZING help, but I find most of the stuff Marijuana Horticulture is covered in Rosenthal's in an easier-to-digest format.

I just finished my first grow log. Definitely pumping my own gas on this, but maybe have a read. From seed to harvest, I hope it gives you an idea of what to expect from a first time rookie grow.

I agree. I started with Jorje but built my perpetual garden from Ed’s info.
