Never tried shrooms before.

I'd like to try shrooms for the first time. I would also like to grow mine. The only problem is that I live in CA. Any suggestions? Or am I pretty much out of luck?

is it illegal to get spores in CA???

there's tons of wild magic shrooms in cali. just be sure to ID properly. look into wild magic mushrooms in your area. probaly some pans and cyans

but if spores are legal there just grow... for some reason my gut tells me ca is illegal to ship spores..... i don't really pay attention to other states' laws.

Do you have an out of state friend who would let you ship them to their place and resend em to you?

That's pretty much your only option. If you're close enough to the state border you may be able to go get a PO box over the border.

I looked into shroomery. They won't ship to CA addresses. Thanks for the input so far folks. The only thing I want to pay for is spores and materials though. Hopefully someone knows a vendor who will bend the rules.
No, none of them will. They are VERY careful about shipping addresses. The last thing they want to deal with is that.

Get a friend or a PO box outside CA, or go wandering, picking, and IDing (not for me, and I don't support anyone doing it alone, even if you can send your pictures to the shroomery for ID.)

You live in the Emerald Triangle, you should be able to find a guide.

I can find someone for a tour; I have friends to pull that off. I wanted my first try to be home grown. Sadly, that appears to not be an option.

Thanks for the heads up though. I was afraid there wasn't a company that ignores addresses anymore...

yeah get a field guide for where you live, try to go on hikes to see whats available in your area without having to inculde ANYONE in what you wanna accomplish. Get your own info for yourself. The united states has "magic mushrooms) that grow wild throughout the us naturally it may take alittle research byt thats better than trusting some loser on the internet! Most local libraries will have a mycology field guide with color pictures and gill and spore prints for you to referance. It's fun you should try it!

Thanks, but like I said, I have guides up here. I was hoping to avoid miles of hiking in the rain and early snow to find the mushrooms. I was asking about an option where I can get them shipped to me. Kind of like how people get MJ seeds shipped into the US.

Doesn't work that way. MJ seeds are legal in large areas of the world, which acts as a general cover for the ones that find there way in the US. Also, since many US states are MM legal, a few seeds is a grey area that can be ignored by most.

Shrooms, on the other hand, are pretty much illegal everywhere. The final end product of the mushrooms is a BIG deal legally, certainly not the wink and nudge you'll get from getting caught with a joint. The escape hatch in the US is the fact that the spores contain no illegal substance, so they are legal. But CA (and a couple of other states) have very strict agricultural laws that are not to be trifled with, at least by a shroom spore vendor trying to get by. They do not want to put themselves in the scope of any investigation.

I assume you've got a military background. My 1st reaction would be to say: WTF, you can go hiking!

My more reasoned response is that I have no idea of your physical condition, and maybe the military has been shitty to you and left you broken, so I'll try to suppress my judgement. I will say that you need to think very seriously about the journey you are about to enter, and a few months of prep might be a good thing. Also, once you've collected wild ones, you can easily clone them and take spore prints and keep producing forever.

Can you make spore prints from the dry mushrooms I got from a friend? And what type of process is involved with spore prints?

As I said in another thread - the more effort you put into getting through the door, the more wonderful you will find the room to be.

I don't know about that. Iv experienced cases where the "trip" was too forced. what i mean by that is if some one, particularly a first timer, goes into this adventure with preconceived ideas about how their "trip" should go they will be sadly let down. This is why im not into your stereotypical psychedelic novelty's; such as images or posters designed to play tricks on you wile your frying. I find it is the unexpected illusions that are the best ones.

It may be an enjoyable experience to go on an adventure and search for what ever your itch is. I personally love taking the 2 hour trip to San Fransisco, with no guarantee that i will even score what im searching for. :? I think the drive is worth it ether way tho.
