Never Had Luck With Cuttings/Clones

I've thought very seriously about making exactly the same thing. We probably got plans from the same website. It works well for you I take it.
there are a TON of these online, it's where I got the idea, yes it works great, if it don't sprout roots it's prolly my fault, bad cut or the res too warm

I had 3 clones and two died and the last 1 hasn't grown an inch. Its been three weeks now under 12/12. Guess I'm right there with ya.

Well, the mold was a result of high humidity and not enough air flow.

I'm an expert at TAKING cuttings, it's just getting them to stay alive long enough to root, lol.
Dtown and Slipon, I like your advice. I will try to do as you guys recommend unless I get something else that strikes my fancy, lol.
Thats the right attitude. Go with what you like and what works! Fuck the rest!

totally agree, I did a bit of research as I , so I actually take the cutting and cut it in a 45 degree angle in the cup of water, so I have a fresh cut made under the water

also, I make sure I have atleast one set of leave points (leaves is of course removed) so it have more points to set root`s so to speak
Mmmm not so much I would definitely take the cutting and put it into water after you make your cut/scrape. I put it in the water as long as it takes me to finish cutting the rest. I learned from watching Jorge Cervantes. He seems to know a couple things from what I've seen

This might be helpful, haven't watched but it's him. Older now hahaha

i have a ten inch deep tuberware, i buy those cheap ass burpee kit, expand pellets
dip in rooting hormone from home depot, only 5$ btw, put in container close lid
i set mine on the floor in grow room, and even with 12/12 on they still root real nice
remove lid every two.days, i get rootsaround 4-5 days

Rockwool and some domes is all you need.
Cheaper than beeches method at first but if your running through a ton of cuttings cubes can add up.
All I use are domes and Rockwool and in about two weeks I get roots like this:

I use 4" neoprene circles with slits,When I get roots I slide the cuts out and support with hydrotron in a mesh pot.
Just keeping it simple!

Ok with all this talk, I think I'm gonna go get some cubes, sterilize my humidity dome and take some cuttings. Fingers crossed and I will be checking back on this thread often, lol.
I will keep everyone updated as much as is seemly. Wish me luck!

Do it! Then we will know for sure! I hope you don't neglect to post your results..
Many people say they will go straight into flower if cloned... but people say a lot of things.

Also, another thought. I have an Area51-350. Do you think that would be too much light for clones or should I use the desk lamp cfl I have? How much light do they need? I've been experimenting with light, but never have found the sweet spot yet.

Never say CFL and too much light in same breath again... ha...
That's an 'Oxymoron' for sure...
----
How are you cutting clone off the plant? I mean, what do you use?
If you are using scissors, or wire cutters, STOP NOW and start over...
Use only exacto or equal razor blade to cut off growth to be cloned.
The scissors/wire cutters no matter how sharp, will still squash soft tip end and will not allow up flow... Of your new clone…
----------
Unlike others, I grow in soil...my clone medium is a soil mix...
My mix: [40% seedling mix/30% perlite/30% vermiculite]
This mix gives me light air-ee mix that holds moisture in.
I fill drilled bottom Dixie cup full and make small hole for clone...
---
The mini branches to be planted under [my two nodes] medium, I pull off growth, which exposes soft plant matter, sometimes I scrape, if branch has hardened...
Rooting hormone applied, and clone with two nodes under top of medium mix...
----------
I then place clear inverted cup, with notches cut in bottom so there is not a air tight closure.
I spray soil with a fine mister, never getting plant wet, just the soil....
Spray/mist/mist three times or so a day...
-------
The domes stay on for 6 days solid...
On 7th day, I take off in morning, and tend to other plants, if when I come back, to clones, they look fine, then tops come off...for good...
Otherwise, top stays on for 7 days max.
------
Clones for first 7 days are within 2-3 inches of CFL/Aquarium grow lights...

In April, the weather turns warmer [here] and clones like a mild night [temps above 65 f]
I run the clones with the other veg plants, at 18/6....
If I had the room, clones would have there own light and place. I'd run it at 24/7...
-----
I also "Trim" the leaves, if they start to droop. If leaf touches soil, I trim...
I leave as much green top on clone as will fit under Dixie cup, and go from there...
Sometimes, lots trimmed, sometimes, I trim nothing... when I say trim the clone, it's like a hair cut for the leaves...
-----
My new favorite thing is to FIM the top of plant [when I want to clone the plants tops] one week before I "Top" the plant. I then take cut off top, trim it to fit, and grow new clone with a FIMed top. It's pretty cool seeing my twin towers emerge from birth...from my newest plant...

Good Luck!
