Nervous About Getting Medical Marijuana.

I am sure many of you have been in the same situation I am in right now. Mogie has been a great help as far as information and the support of this site for the program is great.

I am 22 years old and a former Marine (medically discharged). About 3 years ago I was involved in a car accident. The events that are going to be described are completly factual based on police report and hospital records.

I was in the back seat of a 66 mustang fastback going 45mph and we t-boned a VW station wagon (the PT-Loser) The seat I was in had a lap belt and upon impact it slammed my abdomine into my spinal column (causing two large contusions of the small intestines) and more importantly a hairline fracture on one of my lower vertebrae. The fracture was deemed too insignificant to warrant surgery (really not much they can do with that i guess).

Anyways It has been near 3 years since my accident over a year past the projected recovery time. I have stiffness and pain in the lower back when I wake up, standing straight for prolonged periods of time causes pain and possible muscle lock-up/spasm on the right side of the vertebrae. Also it is cold here more often than not and when I walk somewhere the "chill" that people get is an excruciating flex in the lower back for me. I can lift heavy weight but not for long and I really have to stress the use of proper lifting with the legs.

I have not been seeing a doctor for this pain as I had attributed it to part of the "healing period" but it has since become aparant that it is not going to go away. It has gotten no better and (thankfully) no worse since the accident but is nontheless hampering my ability to function.

I absolutly do not want to be stuck on muscle relaxers and pain killers I despise pills and massage doesn't work. I dont want a chiropractor to try anything because i have a hairline fracture in my spine and I'm not sure they will even try to treat it for fear of damaging it further. Marijuana does work but I really dont want to have to sneak around with it so much. Its like being held captive by your medicinal needs. So logically the option is the medical marijuana program.

I have no idea how to go about it ( I am reading tons) but am really nervous about going to see a doctor (especially because I dont have history with any in the area) and asking for a recommendation. There are so many questions I have and they've done very well to make it hard to find (especially the big ass hunk of application form which i printed out)

I know I have cronic pain and muscle spasms both of which are listed as covered but I dont want to waste time and money on other treatments I dont want or dont work. Doctors seem to love to do this from my experience. Before the accident I was a recreational smoker so I know how to deal with my high and put it toward productive means.

And that ladies and gents is my situation... do you think I qualify? how hard is it to get? how long does it take to get? And really where should I start because I'm sore and tired of everyone telling me I cant have legality and comfort. This is for Oregon.

Yes, you qualify. Just do some research on doctors in Oregon who are cooperative with Oregon's Medical marijuana laws and you'll be fine. There is nothing to fear ... the doctors have heard it all before.

As another suggestion, you could find a good neurologist in an attempt to correct the problem. The marijuana, like other medications, will just cover up the problem.

it always helps if you have a current treatment plan already in effect. go to a regular dr to have the pain documented. get the painkillers but DON'T take them, flush them. then get refills. ask for stronger doses. flush them get more refills. get stonger meds......... take these records to the pot doc and say i need to get off this stuff. your in!!

Theres a problem with this. First off I dont have a grand to throw at a doctor and his feel shitty pills. I have terrible reactions to vicodin percocet and oxycodon. Nausea mostly and muscle relaxers (I've tried the strong stuff) dont do anything but make me sit there in really lazy pain.

Oh and its not neurological I have a crack in my spine :/ they wont touch it if it isnt about to pop out my back.

all my pot dr wants to see is an "evaluation" of my condition by an outside dr. one page that says here is the diagnosis. i said DON'T take the meds. let them think you are.

forget it your fucked.:hump: :hump: :hump:

1000 dollars for a legal pot card? i'd pay it in a heart beat. first crop and you pay for everything just in the money you save not paying for smoke. smartest thing i ever did.

Well I could if my plants would hurry up and grow :P

Are there any free or really cheap ways to get seen by a doctor and have him formulate a diagnosis because uh I can tell him exactly whats wrong with me lol

See if they were truely "compassionate" They would see me and determine wether or not to diagnose THEN charge for the diagnosis.. I can get funding if i know for a fact its going to go somewhere (personal loan or something)

I just heard a disturbing rumor about the medical marijuana program of Oregon having some sort of unspoken quota as to how many people can be let on OMMP per month.

Personally I think thats a load of crap. Though I have heard stranger.

While this seems like sound advice... And IS in most cases... I as usual have to be the exception to the rule. I have spent aproximately $500,000 on nurologists from my car accident in 1982 where I had a hairline fracture of my C-7. It has never gone away, the pain lingers and returns HORRIBLY on ANY hight where the humidity is higher than normanl (Hence the reason I moved to a Desert)

If you have not settled your case yet. Inform yur lawyers that yuo want pain and suffering damages for the rest of your natural life if you do not you will spend loads of your own money on treatments and medications to remove the symtoms of a host of ailments that stem from this accident in your later life.

I am soooooo sorry to hear that. I only hope you NEVER go through what I did pain and suffering was terrribibble. And I Heartfully add that if it was not for Marijuana I would be living in the street still and being completely broke from being addicted to pharmaceutical pain killers and muscle relaxants. I would litterally have to spend 6000 a month on prescriptions (the totaly legal way) more if I scored on the down low. I went bankrupt just to be able to get out of bed and function. Now I smoke, eat and ingest about 300 a month of the bud, I function (Half decent) and thankfully I own my own business and decided not to fire myself for failing the company drug test, (P.S. yes I test, but I overlook the MJ I only look at Crack, Meth, Coke results oh an possible pharmacutical dependancies.) It is a constitutional abortion that Life, Liberty and the persuit of Happiness does not include being allowed to sit down to a good BUD without feeling like a criminal. FUCK YOU GOVERNMENT TIGHT ASSES Bring our Troops home safe and teach em how to grow better bud.

A bit off topic. I really just need advice. I emailed a physician (green physician) asking for more info and I'm waiting for an answer but that still doesnt tell me how im going to pay for an initial doctors visit let alone another $150 for my F#$%in pot card.
