Neil Young makes a stand against misinformation

We aren't at war with anyone/anything but our own egos.
We may not be at war with Covid-19, but it's not going to stop killing us simply because we ignore it. US of A deaths from covid: 917K, with 2,807 American deaths reported yesterday.

Anyway, there has been one rocker who has been at war for most of his life. Anyone who has even remotely followed Neil's music should know that speaking out against harm is nothing new for him.

I would stand behind Neil Young's choice to boycott all streaming services because of the high energy/social costs of music streaming platforms more than silencing, of all things, a fucking comedian.

Seeing how he has made his fortune at the expense of the environment (high carbon cost of touring, environmental cost of records, tapes, cd's and streaming services) and the atrocious slave labour that made it possible.

Celebrities are eco terrorists compared to working people, their opinions are worth absolutely nothing, but they still feel the need to tell the rest of us how to live. This is nothing but a personal disagreement between to rich twats and you're a chump for siding with either. The whole situation is ridiculous.

Kool-Aid is good, I know what you’re meaning is but correctly it should be “Don’t drink the Flavor-Aid”, which is what Jim Jones fed Jonestown, not Kool-Aid. I get it though, your cult has brainwashed you into believing it was Kool-Aid.

Damn it now I want some Ken Kesey electric Kool-Aid
your mind has already expanded too far, and left your body, which continues to post really stupid shit...

Round and round we go. No one thought they were a threat in 1933 either.

You really can’t get this?
To me fascism is fascism, whether they carry a swastika or the stars and bars and I've seen both at the Trucker's blockade. They aren't that much of a threat in Canada and have now lost the element of surprise, it hurt Trudeau, but it was DoFo's fault, highways are under provincial control, not federal.

This is a "dry" run for what will happen in America, only they will have body armor and AR15's. There are a lot more unvaxxed truckers in America and a lot more unvaxxed, already the republicans have started to support the idea.

I support anyone's right to peacefully protest, even if I disagree with them morally or politically. That's what a liberal democracy looks like to me.

We aren't at war with anyone/anything but our own egos.
so we should just let other countries invade their neighbors at will, subjugate the population, and rob the country of its freedom, and it's resources?
...sounds like a plan, and what do we do when 1/3 of the world is russian, 1/3 is chinese, and 1/3 is American?...no one easy left to invade, then the big war starts...

My point was it doesn’t take a majority to destroy a democracy.

I don't know anything about this stupid convoy, nor do I care.

There are a lot of things I disagree with when it comes to the government's handling of covid policies, but you won't see me living in a tent in Ottawa or sending Email transfers to grifters monetizing peoples personal convictions. You also won't see me giving a shit about some fringe nutters yelling Nazi either.

The west needs to grow up and accept "no" for an answer sometimes. Both sides are guilty of this.
yeah?...do we have 100s of thousand of troops amassed on russia's border? we have a total of 70k troops, scattered all over Europe, nearly all of which are in advisory roles, with no intention of warfare...and none of them are amassed on any countries border threatening invasion...

Neil is not trying to silence a comedian. He is removing his music from a platform who has chosen to use said platform to promote Covid disinformation.

Early on I did have a couple three spotify accounts. Still have them, I guess. But it was a clunky platform and I stopped using it years ago.

And Neil was on to carbon long before it was cool.

and a vocal, violent minority can cause a lot of fucking trouble...just ask the 6 million jews and 5 million prisoners of war and "undesirables" that were murdered by hitler's 7 million man army, most of which weren't even in germany..
More manic foolishness. The world is not full of Nazis hiding behind every tree.

The one thing about the Nazis in 1933 is that they didn't have themselves to compare their situation to. I have full confidence that we have progressed/learned enough to not let that happen again.

Don’t be so sure. You live in a time when fascism is gaining ground all over the world. Even in the US!

The closer you are to a liberal democracy the harder it is for minorities to destabilize a country, in a constitutional democracy even majorities have trouble bringing them down. Near democracies like America are most at risk, more democracy usually solves the problem. Hitler never had more than 33% of the vote in Germany, Trump was in the mid 40's, Hitler was smarter, more likeable and electable than Trump! Hence my concern, a fragile semi democracy carrying historical baggage, full of guns, racists and lunatics.

We have the same sorts in Canada and the blockade has caused them to reveal themselves to the media and Mounties. No political party dare get too close to them and the only reason this shit went on is conservative governments coddling them. DoFo is at fault here, highways are provincial matters and he took far too long to act, it's rather obvious most of this shit is his fault and he was late to the game with an emergency order and legislation. I think he was playing politics and trying to screw over Trudeau cause he wants a run at PM for the Tories. Waiting did make the governments case better and the public more pissed off at the idiots though.

Funny, I would have taken you for a Harper man. I vote NDP too. Pinch me, I’m starting to like you. Is that offer to hold hands still on the table?
I concern myself with policy, not political noise.

But noooooooo, no Harper here. I wouldn't take my foot off his head to save him from drowning. He was a fringe nutjob.

The folks in charge actually went by the playbook. You wait for the locals to get tired of them. If you kick them out too soon, they gain support. By waiting until they did some actual harm, ie causing the car makers to pause their lines, now they can clear them out and most everyone will agree that it had to be done.
