Need sugestions on designing a grow room

Hello friends, I'm here with a very important question:

How would you setup this room in order to get a good continuous grow? I'm looking to harvest every month if possible. The room is outdoors and I can build ventilation on the walls where needed. Winters can get pretty cold but the summers are mild. This should be done so that I can both veg and bloom in this space.

Much love! :weed:

Do you have the timeframe to be able to grow from seed each round? How tall are your ceilings? I've double stacked 3'x6' tables before using VHO T5 or 315w CMH.
AH, forgot to factor in room height. That's only 6' so it would hardly seem feasible to double stack tables there. I was thinking maybe having to plant seeds every month, and after one month move them to the flower room. With the low flowering times of some strains (like the Kritikal Bilbo I'm currently growing) I would have 60 days of flower time divided by two batches. I may be way off but I've never done a grow bigger than a small tent before so sorry if I'm way off.

Well, I'm not entirely sure what your cultivation methods include but seeds can be incredibly cumbersome for any project larger than a small tent. You'd need to buy WAY more than you'd need and consistency will be off in the flower room from seed to seed. What's your hesitation with clones?

I've never done cloning and don't know how easy that would be. But if you say that's the best way to go, then by Jah I'll do it. I'm sure RIU will be helpful as always to guide me in this new chapter. How many mothers would I need for this project, and would I veg the clones or flower them directly?

Cloning is advised when cultivating for production or on a perpetual level. For that size of a flower room, even if you grew 9 plants per light (54 clones), 5-6 mother plants would be plenty and I'd keep them in 2-3 gallon pots and cycle them every 3-4 months.

Thank you very much for your advice, I now have something to go on

Many thanks for your advice, you have been most helpful, last question tho, maybe you didn't see it. Do I also have to veg the clones or just put them in the flower room once they gain roots?

Hey HB, not a problem! Once rooted you will transplant into a container and set them on the 3'x6' tables I added to your design. There they will "veg" until you achieve the desired size and maturity, then they'll go into the flower room!

‘ 6 of head room, I’d run 315s for every 3x3 space in flower Or LEDs

Guessing this is a shed , have you thought about there being no snow on the roof during the winter? Kinda jumps out to the neighbors. Smell? Venting ? Budget?
What gear do you have now?

I run perpetual, and chopping every 2-3 weeks depending on the strain

Hey BHB thanks for the reply. It is a shed actually but it was renovated and insulated and now it could even be a small living space. It's very isolated so the lack of snow on the roof wouldn't be noticed by anyone except from the air, same goes for the smell. I will have to work out venting depending on the heat output and I'm thinking about some wall mounted fans blowing outside to create some negative pressure and cool the air that way. Also I'm thinking of a mobile AC unit.
The budget is... well I don't know yet but I'm hoping around $4-5k

The gear that I have now is 3x SUNMASTER DUAL-SPECTRUM SUPER-HPS 400W with the appropriate ballasts, some simple reflectors, a 14l/day dehumidifier and some fans moving air around. I'm using this for a 3'x10' part of the shed which I started a couple months ago and I squeezed in 29 plants which I didn't top or lst. It is more like the trial run.

Good you got it sealed etc n no neighbor problems , it’s something easy to over look , being legal or not , your always a target to someone .

If you are relying on the negative pressure you supply your room, you’ll run into trouble with seals in doors etc. this will also give till bugs an “in” . Opening a door to a negative pressure room will suck in air to equalize the pressure. Couple spider mites or thrips are very small. I would make a filtered intake . And have a filter on the exhaust so nothing comes in the other way .

I would take about 1/3 the area for veg and work space , running water? Sink? Drain?

I would divide the flower space into 4 equal spaces , if you run 8 weeks you’ll chop every 2 weeks , 10/11 week strain will be 3 weeks
I would just keep it simple with promix n pots on the floor to get the most out of the head room. N put money into proper lights and being able to keep the conditions in check.
A/c , bigger Dehumitifer, wall fans , exhaust fans with sensors to come on n off at the right points , timers etc .
Get megacrop fr gneenleaf nutrients
That will save you some cash .

Hey, Big horn, I'm interested in perpetual (would like to harvest every 2-3 weeks). Can you give me more detailed advice (threads?).

Before starting perpetual you should think about a few problems.
If you get bugs at any point it infects everything, you must be very diligent. As preventing the problem is easier then fixing.
To cut every 2-3 weeks to need 4 flowering spots , this means mixing 4 different nutes every time , 4 res, 4 pumps etc .
Timing is the hardest thing , if you like verity, & popping new beans n pheno hunting , some times you’ll have to split the difference in the phenos for finishing time because you’ll back up your veg .
If you only run clones of known strains it makes life a lot easier, I’m not one for the easy way.

I have 4 stages of veg to keep up with the 4 stages of flowering .
When you start you’ll need to fill 25% of your flowering room then 2 week 25% more
Etc , so every 2 weeks you need to be starting seeds or cloning to keep up .
Your just making a cycle , after I cut a crop, I clean and prep anything needed then veg goes in , 2ish hours of down time.
8 week strains will have you cutting every 2
10 weeks will be 3

It will feel like all your free time is consumed by trimming, it never ends .

Idk, I just finished work and I just ripped a fatty n think I’m just scattered brained n rambling.
Do you have more derrect questions
