Few questions that i heard, and didnt think sounded right at all, but still wanna know the 100% no shit answer to.
1. Is it possible to start growing in dirt and then switch to hydro? If so, how does one go about that?
2. How do you lower pH in soil?
3. Is it possible to switch to 16:8 if someone has been vegging at 24:0 for the past week and a half?
4. Do you HAVE to have an airstone when growing hydroponically??

#1. Yes and no! I've seen people wash dirt off the roots of clones and small plants in party cups to go into a dwc bucket but they were stunted
#2 water with ph down mixed in. water with a lower ph than the soil is.
#3 yes it is possible to switch. a lot of times the switch will get the plants to show preflowers, that is a big switch though. I would do more like 18/6
#4 depends on what type of hydro you are doing

1. yes, perfectly possible, in fact i've been doing it to most of my plants of late without any issue whatsoever. Maybe half a day of slight droop and then it just kicks off again :) (i appear to be rather retarded when it comes to seeds in rockwool so i germ in soil then rinse off when a safe size and throw into DWC tubs)

I agree with NGG's other answers.

My buddy tried it and 2 out of the 4 were stunted the whole way and the other 2 took almost a week to get going again. Glad you can pull it off! Do you use b1 when you do it?

Don't know what that is :) i let the plants get to about 4-5 inches, a healthy small plant as opposed to seedling, let the soil dry, crumble off, run under a bathroom tap set to roughly roomm temperature to get any more soil out i can, then stick the root mass through the bottom of a net pot, fill with hydrotron and thrown in a bucket of ph'ed plain water. I abuse the shit out of the roots etc, you name it. Fresh white root growth within a couple of days normally.

vitamin b1, root stimulant. It helps with transplant shock. I spray the roots and soil just before moving them into larger buckets.

I didn't say NO because his plants lived and I knew If I said no some one would say I was wrong and I don't like being wrong. :-P

I was thinking probably flood and drain... for the hydro... i have 2 different table one is a 2 1/2'x3 1/2' and the other is a 4'x4'. Anyone have any advice about a growing medium for hydro?? i heard rockwool creates quite a bit of mold and i know its pretty messy when you have to clean it... i have those red clay pellets with holes through them... i cant remember what its called but i was really liking to use that... anyone have a better solution???

I agree with them as far as 1,3 and 4 go. But the answer to 2 is not watering with low pHed water, that wont work. Adding aluminum sulfate or iron is the way to lower soil pH. Or some use fertilizer to lower the pH is its not too far out of range.

WOW! How can you say watering with water that has had it's ph lowered (PH down in water) wont work? Sorry, but adding phosphoric acid is going to lower the ph. it's the same as sprinkling some Aluminum sulfate or iron on the top and watering. just because you might not use ph down doesn't mean it doesn't work.
