Need Some Opinions

Okay so, I'm about to start my first grow. Right now I'm in the planning stages, and am debating whether to go hydroponic, or soil. I feel I would be capable of growing hydroponically, but i would like some opinions on how you guys first started. I have a decent room (90" x 70" and 90" tall) for my space. I want to pick a strain that will yield as much as possible in the space I have, under the optimum conditions. I have also been debating on how many plants I want to do, I was thing somewhere in the range of 4. I was thinking about going with a 1000w digital ballast. Any input is great! Thanks :bigjoint:

start with soil, and play around with a simple hydro set-up while you are growing some dank-ass organic weed. soil is more forgiving.

How many plants do you suggest in the space I have? I want to get them pretty big before they go into flowering, that way they grow a lot larger.

Same as what he said. Soil, Coco, etc will be much easier to correct any mistakes. Organic can also be tricky but once you get it down things really go smooth. Peace

Set the room up first ( no plants, just lights, fans, exhaust, etc etc ) and make a test run for a few days. You need to get a handle on the environment your plants will be growing in. Better to tweak it now and get it right than wait until you have plants in there that are getting stressed.

Not to mention the stress you will be experiencing trying to fix the problem AND take care of plants at the same time.

When I first started many years ago I was doing hydroponics but I have a degree in clinical medical science so it felt like a science project. However I would recommend to others is to do soil for soil is more forgiving to natural mistakes that everyone makes when they are learning.

Yeah I'm stuck on soil now, cheaper and easier for the first time grow. Hopefully I won't make too many mistakes. Also if I'm doing 4 plants in 45 sq ft, can I do each plant a different strain? Or would that be too much of a challenge?

Sure, you can do 4 different strains if you'd like, I mean why not? You may have height issues and some may be more sensitive to nutrients than others.

It's what ever you want to do, don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something.

Hi big herb, good to have you joining the good fight.
I used to be a member of this website but have since had some problems with my internet and stuff so this is a new account. Anyways, to your question.
I first started growing soil if you want to be technical, although i wouldnt really call it growing, more of throwing seeds in dirt to see what happened. Since i decided to take growing seriously over the last few months, i've started planning my first SERIOUS grow, and am planning on a 5 plant aeroponic system. honestly not having the MOST experience with it i would say start with soil, i havent even started my aeroponic system yet (ive purchased all my nessecary equipment) and im already a little daunted at the work it seems to take.
Once again just my opinion, and i hope all goes well for ya :)

've been doing some reading, and I really like the vertical light idea. I think I might go down that route. Here's a little sketch of how I would want to set it up;Sketch.jpg

I agree. I have two strains going right now for my first grow and one is much more sensitive to nutes than the other so one is doing good and the other is just ok. realized this about a week ago, and am waiting for the plants to recover from thrips and salt build up. I also let my plants get to big in veg and now i'm forced to constantly scrog the shit outa it.
