Hello folks.
I need some help regarding my new lamp. Its not here but im gonna bring it into existence :).
I want to use LM281+ Quantum Boards with mixed colour, they have 288 diodes and rated max power. I want to use 6 of them, but run them way under their maximum rated power. I want a 240-250 watt Powersupply for this. So each board will have less than 40 watt boardpower and i wont need much cooling. I do have some aluminum material here though, for the case i measure too high temps on the back. I will link the infos below. The seller gave me advice to buy the HLG-240-48-Ab i think. So solder the 6 boards in parallel. Theres some confusing info for me, for example they wrote (900-2700ma, 50-130w)...does that mean it doesnt light up before 50w? Doesnt make sense to me. It should light up even at 10watt. Ihave some LM281 Boards with cheap driver and they make light instantly, even when its pulling only 2 watts and dimmer is as low as possible.

I also would like total dimming control from 0-100% and ive heard the HLG starts at 40% power and doesnt go lower. Someone has an idea? Or maybe another PSU thats got the same good efficiency?

thank you in advance.

yes they will light up at even 10W.
AB type is fine, there you have 0-100 or 10-100% depending on the driver.
go for it.

really, i can just go for the HLG-240-48AB? Is there anything more i gotta pay attention to? Im not sure which additional connectors i need. i would like to be able to unplug lights, if i have to, for example if space is small or the wattage is so low that 4 panels do the job. And do i have to buy a dimmer for the PSU? I dont want to sit here with allö the stuff and then realize i forgot something :)
Never built a light before on my own.

What about the ELG-240-48-AB? Its a good chunk cheaper. THe efficiency matters most to me.

ok...and anyone can tell if ELG 240-48AB is as good in terms of efficiency? For the HLG, i heard and read different values all from 92-96%

Make your decision on how you will power them. Are you going to use 110 or 220?

If your on 110 get the HLG as the out put will be 240w ELG will only output 180w at 110
if your on 220 get the ELG as it will out put will be 240w

HLG You can only dim to 10%
ELG You can also dim to 0% (power off)
look at rated power

thank you...im in 220v region. I can get the ELG for a good price here, 53eu. Heard its got better dimming capabilities. They both say 93% on that paper...but i heard that its actually higher, or, that there are points in the efficiency curve that are higher than 93%. However, i think i cant go wrong with the ELG. Im gonna order a 0-10V dimmer and a 100k poti, for the wall plug ill just cut off one of my scrap electrical devices in the cellar^^.

does somebody have an idea for sealing? I never had problems with naked LEDs, but im thinking about doing a complete job on sealing this time. I only got 1mm acrylic glas sheets in mind. They are cheap, but i dont know how many photons get lost. Many brands use some thin sealing, it looks like it was painted or sprayed on. Like Viper Spectra, you know. Anybody knows a DIY product for that?
