Need Some Advice

I might want to start a few plants but unsure if i'm setup properly. I got a 4 ft. flourescent with one regular bulb and a grow-lux plant bulb in it. Im wondering how many plants I can put under this, and if I might need another light for flowering. For soil I got miracle grow organic potting soil mixed 3 to 1 with worm castings. I also have 2 small electric heaters/ fans, and a digital temputure/humidity gauge. Its setup in a small walk in closet in my room, i got a nice lock on the door, plus there is like a small hole that goes from my closet to the space between my roof and somehow has a nice draft of fresh air coming through it.

You might be able to start some seedlings with that light but overall it will not be enough. Get some CFLs or better yet an HID light. Do more research on lighting requirements for cannabis.

Thanks for the help, whats your reccomendation on the lighting if I cant get different lights? I could possibly get more flourescents (I have a few).
And what about the soil and fan/heaters is that all good? Any other recomendations?

a couple of thoughts - for lighting during flowering shoot for 75 watts per square ft of growing area if you stick with fluorescent and 50 watts per square ft if you use hps. i;d recommend the hps.

usually you need to worry about cooling more than heating if you get the hps.

check to see if the mg soil has nutes added. if so, you shouldn;t use it. you should also add something to improve drainage - say 25 % perlite. the worm casings are great.

Ahhh so many questions:
If I can get an hps whats a good size to get? And if I do get some money where is the cheapest place to buy from? And do I really need one?

to be honest id stick with cfl's, nice and cheap and really can do a decent job. How big is your closet?

I would get rid of your regular flourecent bulb and get like 5 or 6 cfl's and use that grow lux bulb for flowering..i have had good dealings with using cfl's and the grow lux bulb..you might not need the heaters. just watch the temps close. you should be good for 2 plants.

The section in the closet i got curtained of is 5 x 3 and the light i got is on a clothes rack about 4-5 feet high

I got another grow lux bulb and put that in the light so now i have two grow lux bulbs. I got my seeds today I planted three in 6 by 5 in. containers and one in a little peat pot with the peat pellet things. I'm wondering how long before I see the first leaves. I got my closet to a constant tempature of about 70 degrees and about 50-55 humidity. I hope this works

a 400 Watt HPS would probably serve you better than ANY other light you can buy in that space. Besides being much more efficient than fluoro or cfl, it grows Buds that larger and denser than CFL/Flo. Thats an honest fact, all things being equal a 400 Watt HPS will grow about twice the weight that a 400 watt flo/CFL setup will.

CFL/Flo can veg plants really well and I still use CFL to help vegging operations. HPS kicks ass in Flowering mode.

Thanks,I checked ebay and that site. Im loving the 400w hps for 119.95 that definetly seems like a possibility. I figure I got like 3-4 weeks before ill need it. I can probaly make it happen by then hopefully.

It's been roughly 37 or so hours since I planted my seeds nothing yet. How long before i see the first leaves? Whats the odds off it being male or female 50/50 right what do I do with the males? Can i smoke them? Any answers would be appreciated

dont bother with males unless you want a headache and seeds.
