Hi RIU,

First of all, just want to thanks this community and all you growers out there.
I got almost every info for RIU. Whats the better thing is you guys here are very nice and willing to get a check or hand on my grow. still keep learning.

ok back to the topic
Here is want I am planning to do:
10x5x7 grow tent in the room
4 foot T5 for clones and early veg
600 Watt MH with air cool hood for mid and late Veg
2 or 3 600 Watt HPS with closed loop air cool hood for flower
GH maxibloom with KISS method, Koolbloom for extra bloom.
Sentinel GPS MEF-1 modular Ebb and Flow system
With portable A/C in the tent

My questions:

1. How many bucket do you think its best for 10 x 5 tent? I been growing in 4 x 4 tent with 5 Gal DWC bucket.
I go up to four buckets i think its fine. but seems the bucket its a little smaller then 5 gal( its 10liter I think) and i also want to shorter the veg time. Im thinking if I should go with 8 or 12 buckets? the setup will be 4 buckets by two row, or 4 buckets by three row. but more buckets means more nutes and more maintenance. How many beckets would you go, if this is your grow?

2. What training method do you guys recommend over this setup?
I was think go with more buckets, and I can go sort of SOG and fit them in the net, that way I can have my girl growing equally to received the light.

3. I found GH Maxibloom its much cheaper than liquid ones. I live all the way across pacific ocean. Cost me a lot of money for shipping. Has anyone here use GH Maxibloom in similar setup?

4. Should I let the small clones to the system? or I have them veg bigger then to the system?

5. I want to put res out of the tent. but its gonna be hot during summer. Im worried about the res. temperature can not be stable at the time. Dont know whats the temp in the room going to be when A/C its in the tent. As I will have a portable A/C in there, so I dont want to waste any room in the tent if it doenst need to
Much appreciated and happy grow:weed:

1) If it was my grow I would go 4 plants per light. 5 gal buckets. 1000 watts per 4x4. Or add 5 per light and shorten veg time.
2) scrog it.
3) Your smart to lookup alternatives to the liquid overpriced watered down highly marketed garbage. GH maxibloom is a good start. But I suggest 5-12-26 + 15-0-0 from JR peters. Much cheaper. There is a cult following for it so look it up.
4) What system? Are you sticking your clones into your 10x5? while your vegging? I dont get it.
5) Res out of tent! Keep as much equipment out of tent as possible. What you mean you dont know your temps gonna be. Make your room 76F. Make your res 69F.

If this was my grow I would keep the HID lights in the tent. And have a separate area for clones/veg. If you only have one area and thats the 10x5 then its going to be in-efficient. Moving lights in and out is crazy amount of work.

1- all depends on growing preference. I've seen some people fill up 5x5s with one plant. they had bigger buckets than 5, though, so I'd say 3 or 4 makes the most sense assuming you'll be training them. if not training then go SOG and just let em go.
2- scrog it but before that top. and of course lollipop it to one flat canopy.
3- nope
4- personal preference. but if you're going for fewer but bigger plants, I'd say veg for a while to let them take form first.
5- keep the res out the tent. even if it's hot out there. make it a larger res and just manage the temperature with frozen two liters of water if you wanna go cheap with it.

my two cents from my research and understanding.

Thanks for the feedback really appreciated that.

1. the system I am going to get is 3.5 gal each bucket. This is why I am thinking if i should go 12 buckets.
Sorry Im not sure what you mean add 5 per light means. 2 600watt its not gonna be enough for 10 x 5 isn't it?

2. Scrog is what I want. but it take about two and half month for me the veg. (1.5 month - early veg. 1 month - fit into net) another two month for flowering. It takes at least 4.5 month for a run. Its kind of long for me.
This also the reason why think if I should go 12 bucket with SOG.

this is a 4 x 4 tent with scrog net Im runing.
in day 17 after 12/12.
Its two 5 gal bucket DWC. under 400 and 600 Watt MH right now.
nutrients: GH flora two parts EC 0.6 PH 5.8
Will change to HPS when I see flower sign. I dont think I do it right( compare with all the picture I can find on the net)
https://www.rollitup.org/t/scrog-help.896830/

3. Thanks for the info. I will go check that out if its cheaper. but I already order GH Maxi bloom, Koolbloom both liquid and powder. 2.2 pound bag and a quart bottle. cost me 75 to ship all the way here. Cost more than nutrients...

btw I am using GH Flora micro and bloom for my current project. I think I will have some micro left when bloom empty.
Can I mix micro with anything? As you know it cost me lots money to get a bottle of nutrients.

4. The system I am going to get, the one I have it with youtube link.
My question is, do I veg my clone bigger then go the 10 x 5 system to fit the Net? (assume im useing scrog net)
or I just go to 10 x 5 tent with MEF-1 system when clones root out.
what would you suggest to veg them in most efficient way?

5. How to keep tent light poof when Have two tube that pump water in and out?
I dont know the temperature gonna be its because my portable A/C will be in the tent. I dont know if it get cool enought out of my tent which is a room with window and door closed.

I have another room with two small tent. one clone/ veg tent another one is currently into 17 days of flower.
but there is no A/C in that room, plants are not gonna grow during summer.( 34-35 C)
Now I can run without A/C just 6" exhaust and intake with air cool vent setup, so hopefully I can have two flower tent during fall and winter.
Still trying to figure out what to do to make all these work.

If I have small tent for veg/ clone under 8 t5 tube. I dont know if Im using it right. I keep them 2 inches above the top. it got heat burn. Much slower than 150 MH that I used before.
what system would you prefer? I have a DIY DWC bucket that can go up to six plants. Do you think its better idea I veg clones longer until like 5 or 6 inches, and to 10 x 5 room veg longer to fit the net?

I think I will have air cool hood just hang in there, just change out the either MH or HPS when it need.
Do you think I need any of light controller with timer? still thinking if i should go 2 or 3 600watt.

This is a thread I made question about the supplies for environment control setup in 10 x 5 tent.
That would be awesome if you can give me some feedback.

This is my journal I just started last night. still not familiar with all the function of the journal

Sorry, for all those dummy questions.
Once agian thanks for the input. Much appreciated.
Any feedback still welcome

I am running eight 5 gal ebb buckets in a 3.5 x 7 room, and it's a jungle!! I would imagine you could do 12 no problem under three 600w bulbs. As far as my clones go, soon as they root I put em on 3gal DWC buckets with a 2 inch foam collar. After 5-7 days the roots will be about a foot long and ready to put in your system. From there you can go into flower or veg to your.desired size.

Ps. I go straight from fluros to hps just gradually move the light closer. Or you could fry your clones. Also it seems plants tolerate a higher EC in ebb flow systems. I'm pushing 1.9 in mine at week 4 of flowering, the plants love it.

Thanks for the feedback.
I for got if I mentioned. it will also be a fan blowing my plants slightly, portable A/C and control bucket in the tent.
Do you think thats gonna fit with 12 buckets system?

Do I need lighting controller when running 3 600w bulbs? Does the regular analog timer hold that much amps?
I saw some video on youtube, and the guy mentioned regular timer is not for grow light. I dont know much about electricity. I have 240V with 20amp from wall socket. Im sure its gonna hold more than 3 600watts. but not sure if the timer can do that. I am now runing with same model timer with 400watt and 600watt HPS. feel a little warm on the timer.
Here is how I connect:
wall socket--->timer--->extention cord--->ballast

As my diy DWC bucket already have bigger hole that fit the net pot. Can I still go with the net pot, when to the 10 x 5 tent. I put the net pot in the EBB bucket without take out the net pot?

How tall is your plant when you have them into ebb bucket?
Do you think its good idea if I just get the clone machine. I can have them root and grow for a few weeks then straight to the ebb system?

Whats the medium you use in Ebb bucket?
I was thinking straight hydroton or hydroton mix with broken rockwool.

Thank you for your time reading this and sharing your experience
Happy grow

you should have enough room, and with good airflow through your hood you might not need the ac. personally i dont use timers on my lights i do it manually, but each light is on its own breaker with a gfi outlet. you can transplant the 6 inch pots, a friend of mine does it all the time. i use the 2 inch foam collars because i can veg 2 or 3 in one bucket and fit more under my veg fluros. plants are 6 -8 inches tall when i put in the ebb buckets, ( i use hydro corn ) as my medium. i have a homemade aerocloner but find it much easier just using root riot plugs.

Thanks I already order 12 bucket system today, and they are not sure if they have its pump control unit with 120V power.
I only have one 240v receptacle in that room which I want to use it for 3 600watt hook up with lighting controller.
It would be another problem for me if they tell me they dont have it tomorrow

I think I will do just like what you do, have them veg in DWC for couple week.
Hopefully I can have my clones 6-8 inches tall, when I have my new tent ready.

here my thoughts, i only been growing a couple months but learned a shit ton of lessons and put in hundreds of hours of research and heres what i would do with your set up

1. it all depends on how you plan on training them and how big you let them get in veg. if it was me personally id probably do 12 buckets so you don't have to veg as long

2. i would say scrog because I'm pretty sure you cant do true sog with buckets because true sog is single cola with 1 or more plants per square feet (might be wrong its been a while since I've seen the definition)

3. a lot of people use maxibloom with good results, you should check out "AlphaPhase" 2 grow logs, he uses buckets too. i personally just swithched to flora micro and bloom from the maxi series because maxigro (for veg) was showing a shit ton of deficiencies (nitrogen, calcium, magnesium) no matter what i did.... and maxibloom isn't really that great of a bargain bro, its just easy to use. i can get 14.337 res changes (using 8/16 lucas formula) with a gallon of micro and a gallon of bloom for 55 bucks total or i can pay 15 for maxibloom and only get 6.5 res changes... sure it costs 20-25 more when comparing res change for res change but if you're harvesting a half pound+ its not that much plus you have way more control over your nutes with micro/bloom like I'm trying a micro/bloom 7.5/6 formula right now which brings the ratios to a perfect 3-1-2 and if doesnt work then i can just use lucas formula. people always say its a waste to pay for water and thats true but if it lasts 3-6 months then I'm not worried about the extra 20 bucks, I'm pretty sure the plants will pay for that. just my thoughts though

4. not sure i understand the question. if you're asking if you should throw them in the buckets now then idk but if they're rooted and everything then i would just be careful with the lights being too close

5. idk what the question was but i can tell you my res is on hardwood floors and my res stay sabout the same or a few degrees colder than my house but even if my water temps hit 70 or low 70s it wouldn't bother me too much because i run a sterile res with h2o2
Much appreciated and happy grow:weed:
