Need info on bulbs

Hi everyone. I just started my first grow and finally have my babies all set up in what will be the flower room. Tommorow I'm going to start building my veg station so I can pull clones right before I put these into flower.

Home Depot has a 2 bulb shop light for $20 which seems like a good deal. But I have little to no experience with flourescents. I looked at one the other day (an 18") and it listed the kelvin rating. Is this the only rating I need to worry about? (5,000 to 6,500 range)

I can't afford to buy CFLs right now so I have to go with the flourescent tubes. I might look into CFLs later.

I also need to know if these bulbs give off any heat at all, even if only small ammounts of heat.

cfl= compact florescent lighting.... you are looking into cfl's .

cfl's let off minimum heat. i keep my cfl's about 1-2 inches from the plants before they go into the flower tent.

look into getting more bulbs to let them flourish. i have 8 t-8 floros in my veg/clone cab...

It might technically be a CFL, but if you go into the CFL rooms they don't think so. lol

I just needed to know about heat because I'm going to have to make something in my living room since the flower room already took over my bedroom. And I keep the temp around 72 so I need to make it 8 degrees hotter somehow in the veg/cloning station.

I can't afford to buy 4 shop lights & 8 tubes right now. Maybe 2 shop lights & 4 bulbs, but that's stretching it. I have to be very cheap until I get a harvest, I'm already forced to flower after only a monty.

So T-8s in the 5,000 to 6,500 kelvin spectrum is what I"m looking for?

72 is cool for veg i veg 70 - 75 under led

Yeah, but I'm going to be vegging from an unrooted clipping. I was told to try to get the temp to 80 to root clippings. Will they root at 72?

Can anyone tell me if T-8s in the 5,000 to 6,500 kelvin spectrum (daylight) are the best flourescent tubes to use to root clippings? (I'll be switching to a 400w MH as soon as they're ready.

And does anyone know if clipping will root at 72 degrees?

i currently have my whole op using T-8 4ft bulbs they work great they also dont get that worm so you should be fine i would use the daylight bulbs . If you are going to use a like 4 bulbs total i would suggest putting 1 daylight bulb and one kitchen bulb(has the red spectrum) in each shop light. Also lowes has a t8 shop light for $12.00. great deal.

I really only need to get the clippings rooted and strong enough to handle a 400w MH. So I'll actually have 3 stations. One for rooting, one for veg, and one for flower.

I'm hoping 4 bulbs is enough to get them rooted properly, especially since I'm hoping to make some money from clones so I can go the full 4 months on my first grow.

By kitchen bulbs, do you mean 2,700 to 3,000 kelvin aka Soft White? (I did a bunch of research on CFLs)

Just make sure to keep them as close to the light as possible. Yeah 2700 at my lowes they dont say soft white so thats why i said kitchen. Also if you want to save 10% at lowes go to your local USPS/Post Office and get a change of address form you dont have to turn it in. There is a 10% off card that comes with it. Just throwing that out there. But yeah 4 lights should work perfectly. Good luck with your grow
