Need Help with Setup

Haven't grown in over 15 years and a lot of stuff has definitely changed.

I have the following room in my house that is next to the attic that'll I be using for the grow. I live in a state with high humidity and gets pretty warm, the main AC unit has vents in this room, along with a separate window ac unit that I'll be using to keep that room cooler. The plan is to fully insulate that door - no hot air from the attic - and to drill a 4" hole using a hole saw to vent the air from the tent into the attic. (Pictures below)

Dimensions of usable space: 90"x90"x80"

I'm going to build my own aeroponics system that will house 2 - 27 gal containers, 4" net pots (9) per container - so 18 in total.

What's the best sized tent to go with this outlook? I've looked at a couple of the dual room tents.

How does this one look: https://www.amazon.com/MAXSISUN-Hydroponic-Observation-60x48x80-Multi-Chamber/dp/B07WWF9Q9B?SubscriptionId=AKIAJHOCP6R3EFQQ4HIQ&tag=420arena0a-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B07WWF9Q9B&th=1

Also, what sort of light would you suggest for the main room?

I appreciate all help, I understand how to grow - the problem is technology has came a long way hah.:weed:bongsmilie:lol:

I'd think twice about venting into the attic.
Agreed. Use the same rule as you would for venting a bath fan: vent directly outside if possible, even if through the attic, or at the very least run a vent tube into the eve of the attic which should passively vent outside. You're asking for trouble venting into an open attic space unless your attic vents are really really good. Also, make sure you're scrubbing that vented air unless you're not concerned about smell.

As for your tent, I like those multi-room tents for an assembly line style of grow, but space is tight. I use an 8x4x7 which allows for plenty of room to train out plants, add accessories like humidifier/dehumidifier, heaters, fans, etc depending on what your needs are, and especially
To move around in the space when the plants get big. I have 5 at a time and it would be nearly impossible to get to all of them comfortably without the extra space, as they cover a 5×4 area or more.

Love the space though! Wish I had a nice room like that to set up in.

What would be the concerns with venting through that door? The door will be completely sealed off.

Anywhere from $200-300 to start for lights
All that humidity can cause mold.

For $200-300, I think you have to go with HPS. I'm an LED guy, won't try to advise on HPS.
If you haven't seen it, here's the lighting sub forum.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. I'll add, if you do go with the 3 compartment tent, that's 3 lights. Some LED, some HPS. But if you go HPS, you'll pay more in the long run with electricity and bulbs. I'm LED too, so I wont try to debate on it, but I think with a little legwork, some research, and hunting deals, you could go quality LED for not much more and I think be happier.

I don't know this seller, but these are more than double the price on amazon. They had the SF-1000 for $72 a few hours ago.

That's a hell of a deal! I run the sf-4000 and absolutely love it. It only pulls 440 watts at the wall!

What would be a good size LED for a 4'x4' grow? Think I'm going to hold off on a 8'x4' for now until I can put some actual money into a great LED board. So the 3 compartment tent - could I could go with a ~250W (from the wall) LED for a 4'x4' space or should I stick with HPS?

Any links to some good LED boards that are affordable but not the fake output boards on Amazon?

Yeah, the SF-2000 or a comparable board would do that. I went a bit over with my sf-4000, but I got a great deal on it and figured I had room to expand without having to buy another light.

Depending on how soon you need it, keep an eye on Ebay. "Damaged" units show up regularly for good prices. Mine had a little bent corner on the metal, not an issue at all, but saved me a hundred bucks. Set up some search alerts.

30 watts per square foot recommended for flowering with modern white LED, so 480w in a 4x4.

I'm not sure 30w per sq ft is a hard a fast rule tho. Different setups will have different specs. I go by my PAR readings more than anything, but that requires a par meter. I still get a 500 reading at the corners at 18 inches and over 1000 at the center. I wish it were simpler. Lol
