Need help with seedlings in coco and canna nutes

So a friend got this seedling in a 2gallon smart pot with 50/50 coco and perlite, it's 9days old from sprouting and is looking a little yellow, so far has been Fed rhizo with tap water (128ppm) , ph'd to 5.8,.

Coco was flushed with tap water till runoff was clear then planted directly into rockwool till the tap root showed then into the coco.

Lights used are cxb3590 ran @ 1400mah, dimmed to half and sitting about 15inches above it.

My question is should I add cal mag to the rhizo feed, or should I start nutrients at a low dose?

Here's a pic. Not much to see but shouldn't it be greener and growing faster?

You shouldn't be feeding a seedling to begin with. You're doing more harm than good and risk burning it up.

And if you're growing in soil, always add about 5 tablespoons of lime to your mix. You'll ever again have a need for cal/mag.

Yes start feeding 300ppm in a weeks time go to 500ppm
Thanks I'm running canna coco nutes a+b and rhizo ,also have cannazyme and pk13,14 .

But for now I'll use just a+b and rhizo . For a anyone know if I need to add cal,mag wen using coco and coco nutes?

I grow in coco and always have to add more calmag in my mix. I agree that you should feed seedlings a mild mix around 300ppm. I would also bury your rockwool a little deeper next time to prevent algae growth and spreading.

I grow in 100% coco and would only feed a light a+b solution like 50- 100 ppm . I use tap water that is already 150 ppm so anything for me over 200 ppm works great. Also I foliar feed with rhizo works wonders. Don't feed to much as you want the roots to go searching. Introduce a light feeding of cannazyme when you start seeing more growth . I use canna religiously and less is better. You only wanna use rhizo for a couple weeks anyway . Then switch to calmag. When growing in coco you will find that it loves to eat the calmag . Generally I stick to 1.0 ec for veg and 1.2 - 1.4 ec for flowering. Don't be afraid to foliar feed when you notice deficiencies but foliar feed any time you can as it's a faster way to feed. Just up the ppm if need be , every strain is different but if you follow the canna coco feeding chart you will notice your plant will burn cause its just too much nutes

Use 10ml per gal coco a&b
12ml per gal of rhizotonic
9ml per gal of most cal mag I use general organics run that you won't have any issue been using canna a long time

Cannazyme is meant for flower wouldn't use it in veg no need for it

I use rhizotonic whole run lol

and just so you know, thats a big pot you put it in, it has to establish a few roots before it can start growing above the ground much, give it a few days, water around the seedling but not directly on the rockwool cube, make the roots work a little

just out of curiosity, why plant on the side of the pot?

you see the little single lobed leaves that come in first, they're still on the plant, and still look green. those are cotyledon leaves, they contain all the nutrients that seedling needs till they start to wither and turn yellow. anything you feed the plant while those leaves are still healthy is just over feeding.
I didnt even think of saying that just assumed he knew it just needed water

And ya huge pot to start out in normally switch to a 1gallon pot upgrading to too big a pot leaves soil wet too long causing root issues. Could get lucky just watch for it drying out properly and water accordingly down stem to start and as weeks go on she grows spread out where you water in the pot

What I find interesting as well is how near the edge the plant is. Do you have more than one plant in that pot?

Yea sorryx, there was a automatic seed planted on the other side, but it failed to germinate, my plan was to have two in the pot and veg the fem seed till I can take clones and also have an auto that might be done by the time it's vegged out and co me a have been taken, but since that auto died... I'm going to just grow the fem seed and let it down across to the other side of the pot might save a small amountt of space compared to planting on middle? I'm not sure but this girl has recoverd fully, she is still a little pale but I thin she might be more sativa, it's a green house seeds the doctor, here's an update she might get topped soon to help promote those branches, I really want some clones!! :-)IMG20160926054356.jpg IMG20160926054409.jpg

I think it is really difficult to over do it with canna coco + AB. I've been using it for a while now and in the worst scenario you get to much leaf. Canna recommends pre-buffering with calmag to saturate the coco with it, I think I remember from a Canna training I saw once online that you need to pre buffer it with calmag and that later it will be taken by the plant, if not done like that, the coco will take cal from the plant until it gets saturated.

"Coco substrate that has been pre-treated in this way is unlikely to release excess potassium or bind the calcium and magnesium that the plants need. The result: healthy plants with no symptoms of nutrient deficiency."

"Some coirs have been chemically treated, this is most often the case with loose pre-hydrated varieties versus compressed blocks. The treatment has been done to satisfy the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of the growing media. As a refresher, “cations” are positively charged ions, such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, and Potassium. This means that the growing media will hold these ions in a matrix, releasing them as required by plants. There is one slight drawback to this. Until the cation exchange capacity of the growing media is filled, the growing media may hold positively charged nutrient ions, most notably calcium, in reserve, making them less available to plants. However, the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of the coir media is quickly filled, and actually assists calcium absorption in the crop cycle. To ensure optimum availability of all nutrients, supply additional calcium during the first week of growth or during the hydrating process of the coconut coir. Calcium supplement products are ideal for this. Some nutrients specifically formulated for coco tend to have elevated levels of calcium and magnesium while having lower levels of nitrogen. "

so, if you are using out of the bag canna coco, you should only add rhizo, calmag is not necessary for canna coco unless you see a deficiency and sometimes I use it to raise PH, adjust ppms or to refill the coco with calmag due to the regular exchange. LEDs are said to require more calmag and indeed since started using it I stopped having problems, but at the same time I noticed a chalk like flavour on my buds so right now I use it only if I notice a problem or now and then just because.. plus, AB is supposed to have all you need.

If you ask me, I think you green could be darker, I would just add 4ml in 4L ( my measure ) of AB + Rhizo.

What ec/ppm do you use for foliar with the rhizo?
