Need help understanding how to grow with regular seeds...what mediums make sense?

I am a newbie, but an experienced gardener and have spent lots of time getting my room together and the proper setup. Now that the room is about ready to go, I have a question I cannot seem to find a good answer to....

Since I have not grown this before, I have read enough to understand a soil based grow medium may be my best bet to start.

So to make it easy, I could use for example kindsoil and FFOF and just water.

BUT --

I am starting from regular seeds. I know the genetics and I expect good germination, but what happens if I use Kindsoil and then half end up being male? What do I do with all the pots of soil that had males? I guess I can recycle for the next grow....or

I see using FFOF and then their basic 3 part liquid nutrients may be a cheaper way to do this...if half are male, i have a bunch of FFOF to recycle or just reuse for the next grow. I understand this to be relatively easy like a kindsoil product but requires a bit more care and potentially flushing several times through the grow.

The last thing I try to be is a know it all...I readily admit im new to this plant (as a grower ), and cant figure the "right" way to do this with a reasonably good result and not have a lot of waste.

Im sure this was covered somewhere, but Ive searched and read many places and cant find this specific question being addressed. I am not lazy and just asking without searching first....I really havent seen this discussion.

Im fine getting some feminized seeds at a later date, but have some fine genetics Id like to try. I know feminized seeds are relatively new, so most here know the answer to my question...and I would greatly appreciate some direction.

Room is roughly 5 x 7x 6...5 x5 will be a flower area for now, I have 2 slate 6 each with 4 hlg qb288 v1 3500k and each has a 320 meanwell.

Thanks in advance for help

A second question would be opinions of how much or little LST I can try for my first few grows...is manifolding too ambitious?

Cheers and thank you,

Buy premixed soil and just reuse the soil from the male plants or the test plants. Most of the nutrients are used later in flowering so male really don't use much at all.

Another trick i use is to clone all the plants and flower the seedlings until they show their sex. Then i use the female clones as mothers tossing the males and test subjects.

FFOF cut with 25% perlite is the ideal choice

many growers use it for 3-4 grows with minimal amending

more perlite if you intend to add you own nutes later in flower

good luck

Don't know about nebula manifolds.

Growth media does two things: anchors your plants and provides nutrients.

I'd go to the closest hardware store and ask for their recommendation.

Cheers.

I'll lay out the noobs guide.
Relax
Dont try hard, it's simple.
Less nutreints.
Dont ph for soil grows.
Less nutrients.
Good air flow, more fans.
Less nutrients.
Dont water until the leaf droops.
Leave them alone and stop fuckin with them.
Drill extra holes in the pots, then more.

Soil grows are very easy and give good consistent results, it's my fav after 9 years, I recommend premium potting soil from the local nursery or similar store, get a 3 cu ft bag, bark means its low quality, and guess what? Ffof has added bark. That means bad news if you reuse your dirt much, because it lowers the soil ph as it degrades. Otherwise it's a ok soil but not amazing.
Use simple nutrients, I use a 1 part 20-20-20 the full cycle with better results than any other I've used, and I've used many many nutrient lines from 2-7 part.

Anyways I hope some of this helps, always look for cheaper ways to do things, a lot of this industry is built on separating you from your money as quickly as possible, because odds are you have money but little gardening experience or knowledge, after, your growing pot.
You think that the commercial growers are using the hype nutrients? Probably not. They are likely buying a 50lb bag of nutrient salt. I spend around 150 per lb to produce including electricity, and trying to lower it every year so I dont get left behind.

Is that a bias?

Thank you V! What do you like for nutrients if any for a grow with the FFOF and 25%?

Thats a huge help, thank you. I will go to the store or nursery and get something quality without bark and without bias towards a particular brand name.

I am very familiar with simple and smart being better than trying to "outdo" mother nature with lots of chemicals...but have never grown this before...many veggies, bushes, flowers, lawn etc. Looking forward to chilling out and not doing a lot to it. Thank you!

Manifold....mainlining

Sorry if I called it the wrong thing...I know you all do this or have heard of it. Is this a reasonable technique for me starting off or just plant and go?

This is just like growing anything else really. Bigger containers and more light means bigger plants and bigger fruits. I generally dont even touch the plant for the first month or 2, and just add water until the lower leafs are yellowing and even dropping, then I start with nutrients IF I dont transplant.

I'd really suggest zero training until after your first run so you get a feel for it as it grows naturally, then look into scrog.

Thank you...your plant looks very green and healthy. Good luck getting to the finish line.

Have to look up bobbledragon wtf is that??? Lol
From Kingdom Organic Seeds. I got a book called True Living Organics that has some amazing information on organic growing and tells at how to make your own super soil. Teeming With Microbes is another awesome book that talks about the soil food web. Pretty interesting stuff and no real worry about nutrient deficiencies cause all the nutrients a cannabis plant needs is in the soil. Hope that helps

Lots of guys reuse soil, I usually just toss it into my compost, like Redwood, and end up reusing it later. That being said, I have had better results using pre-mixed potting soil for cannabis, the compost does better for hot peppers. Composts tend to hold moisture a bit too well, and can compact a bit too easily. If I can I just pot up rather than give nutrients, until she shifts into flower.
I've heard a lot about supersoil, but I haven't tried it yet. I really don't have room in my garage for the bags of ingredients needed, and I'm starting to shift away from growing in pots. From what I've heard supersoil isn't good for starting seeds, and that's mostly what I'll be using soil for in the future.
Whatever you use I would suggest adding mycorrhizae to it. Unless you use promix herb & vegetable, it already has mycorrhizal spores added.
I wouldn't try manifolding until I had more experience. Unless you've done it with other plants, I've heard there's a bit of a learning curve there. Topping is as far as I would go at first. It works the same for cannabis as with any other plant.

I've used this commercial mix many times over the years in many varying ways

you can forget the nutes and add a handful of sand halfway thru flower
or if you want the commercial (P) and (K)
add extra perlite and add any flowering nute
dwc is best as is more solable mixes with water better

organic is the only way for me

cheers/
