need help, size doubled in 2 weeks

well, I started 12/12 about 2 weeks ago. My smaller plant (smaller at the time) was 8 in. tall. Now that girl has shot up to 18 in.!!! In two weeks!!! I mean seriously. It only has about 24 more inches before it hits the top of my grow box. Not to mention my light fixture.

Considering she still has atleast 5 weeks left, I'm seriously getting concerned about running out of room.

Is topping or fim still an option at this point? i do already have buds.

I know it would probably be better to go with lst, however, i also do not have a whole lot of horizontal space either. I would probably be able work something out along those lines but any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

also, I currently have 8 cfl's above my 2 lants. I am planning sometime later this week to change the lighting set up so that I have some or most of my lights on the sides of the plants. Will this help slow down the vertical growth? And, if I lst, could I tye the main branch right down to it self so that the top bud faces straight down? Will this affect my yield, considering it has already strted forming buds?

Thanks for the replies.

it shouldn't grow much taller, don't restrict her height, plants will continue to grow after flowering is induced ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST TWO OR THREE WEEKS, it's called 'the stretch' don't worry I think it should be fine.

Plants tend to double or tripple in size during flowering.. its normal.. if you have more horizontal space U can cut the tops of the plant so it bushes out more or you can bend the plant.. either is fine and acceptable. I would say avoid cutting it just let it grow and see how it goes. If you have 24 inches to the top of the box from the top of the plant then your plenty fine but if your 18/24 then just wait a few days and bend if u must.. or if possible get a bigger grow box.. hehe

Hope this helps but don't worry its natural. It should grow constantly.. its natural just the first few weeks it grows faster.. the stretchy period.. lol

happy growing,

thanks for the advice, I will measure again and monitor how fast it's been growing. It already looks like it might be slowing down. If not I will tie down. Would be a shame though, got a nice looking bud developing on it ;)

I have read here that If you have the lights too far away, that will encourage stretching, as well as cool Temperatures can too. I also think bending them over horizontally and tieing them will help.
