I recently purchased a grow den grow tent that measures 3 x 3 x 6'5. I have been vegging 4 plants under the 2 foot 8 lamp t5ho. I am waiting on my HPS, Ballast, and Reflector, which should be here any day now. looking to do the big switch here in around 13 days at 5 weeks veg. My tent has 2- 4" vents and 5- 8" vents. I have been doing endless forum exploring to try and figure out my venting/cooling situation. Unfortunately, I'm going to be working with the basic winged reflector. so, my plan is to run a 4" inline fan up top at the upper vent with an attached carbon filter on the inside of the tent sucking air in through the filter out the inline??? could that work? quite honestly fucking stumped on this aspect. I wanted to run a fan aimed at the lights blasting air up towards the fan/filter up top....CAN ANYBODY HELP!? it would be muchhh appreciated!

I think your gonna have to get an air cooled reflector or heat will be an issue you can't resolve. I got a pretty nice one delivered for a hundred bucks in the US

Hey boss, personally I would put the filter as high as you can and put a a fan on the light, keep an eye on humidity and temps. filters are great to about 50% humidity after that there useless. the fan on the light will distribute the heat, with a good exhaust fan it will suck air from the bottom and then push it out, you will have new air inside your tent every so-many minutes. other questions that would help would be what size fan and what size light, 1000watt will be plenty for plants but way too much for your 3x3 tent. outside tent temps change the factors a lil. hope this helps.

Ditch the reflector and hang the HPS vertical bare bulb, place a small table/desk fan in the center of the tents floor pointed up at the light on the fans low setting to help aid the natural rising of heat.Have an exhaust fan and carbon filter up high and over the bulb for best use.Grow 4 to 8 plants arranged in a circle around the bulb like a vertical scrog.

If using a 400w-600 HPS you'll want a 6" exhaust fan & carbon filter because you'll run into airflow losses due to bends in ducting, whether or not the ducting is rigid or smooth, attaching the filter.

much love hookahchill , appreciate the feedback!! I am going to be running a 400 w hps. and due to the vent sizes on my tent, and because I think an 8" fan would be overkill, I am planning on getting a 4" inline fan/filter combo and hanging this at the top of the tent with a desk fan blasting air at the light as well as helping the heat rise up and be sucked into that fan/filter combo and blow out of the tent. say I have a nice air conditioned room and am able to keep outside temps where I want them. this hps will come with the winged reflector, which i'm now wondering whether to keep or somehow hang the bulb by itself which I don't quite know how to do either. lol

how do I hang just the bulb vertically? much love for the feedback!! as far as the exhaust fan goes, if my tent vents are only 4" and 8", will a 6" exhaust fan work??? because what you just suggested was almost exactly what I had envisioned besides the ditching of the reflector. and when it comes to setting up the exhaust fan/filter combo, should I simply run the ducting out of the vent so the air being pulled out just lets off in the room..? novice here obv, but got awesome genetics and am keeping my babies very happy currently so definitely trying to keep this up!!!

Hello,

Sorry it took so long to get back. A 4 inch will work to keep the air moving up from the floor. when the doors are closed see how much the walls suck in. that is an indication of how much air is passing up the tent. if that doesnt work all that great go to 6 inch and a reducer for the filter. 6 inch is your best bet.
AC outside the tent is good, With that you wont need to suck so much air into the tent to keep the heat down. I personaly would get a reflector the is inclosed with vents, you can take the hot light air and send it right out so it does not stay inside the tent. 400watts means a 400watt heater in your room.

now its been 16 days since first post. Where are the pictures?
