Can anyone tell me please how to germinate a seed properly I have heard of using paper towls, jar of water I dont know I want to do it right can someone please tell me Thanks alot
Kali~

I soak mine in a jar of water with a tiny lil bit of compost till they pop and then i put them straight into small pots of soil, seems to work for me:blsmoke:

Don't touch the seeds at all. Use a tweezer. You can't really do it wrong but....
I have found it is faster to put them in a very wet towel roll them up, put them in a plastic bag, put the plastic bag somewhere pitch black, and at least room temperature, maybe a couple degrees extra will trigger them a little faster. I have found that seeds
grow pretty much no matter what if you give them enough time. Plant the seeds as soon as they crack though to help stop root damage.

I just plant mine in the soil in little seed starters and if they grow then they are
good seeds
If they are crappy seeds then they don't. If they don't I just get a different seed.
People probably kill more seedlings from handling them then actually die from improper
germination techniques.

I think the jar method is (nearly)foolproof. With paper towels if you mess up and accidently let them dry out you're screwed, they can't dry out in a jar/cup of water. I use a coffee mug with a piece of foil on top and place it anywhere the a/c does keep cool like a closet or cupboard. In 2 days (give or take) you're ready to go! simple! Also, I suggest using tweezers like We1 says, I wipe them of with alcohol first to sterilize. Good Luck!

so I just let them soak in water and the seed should pop open and the root shoot be sticking out?? and when I put it in the ground do I turn the light on then or do I wait tell they brake the surface or does it even matter? thanks

Ive always just made a 1-2cm hole in my pot of soil and dropped it in, cover... 2-4 days later, there you go!

i use latex gloves and the paper towel /plastic bag method. then I place them into the soil. I have always had great success this way.
