I wanted to get the best of the sun until or right before the first frost, and then transfer plants indoor. DO anyone have any suggestions, tips, or opinions they would like to offer? It would be gladly appreciated

Done this many times. Main concern should be not dragging any insects into your house.
On moving day, I generally remove unhealthy looking unnecessary leaves, then I soak the rest of the foliage w/pyrethrum-based insecticide spray (while the buds are just a few pistils, preferably)
Removing the crap leaves should be done before going indoors. I suggest keeping the new indoor plant(s) well away from any growing crop until you're certain you've not filled your home with mites/etc.
I keep mine in a separate room, which I do the initial spraying in. You'll need to re-spray in 2-3 weeks to deal with any leftover egg hatch. Works great!
You can spray most of the insecticide residue off your plants a couple weeks after dealing with the eggs, if it bothers you. I don't?
As an extra precaution, this year I'll put a layer of food grade Diatomacious Earth on top of my soil, to deal with any soil pests/eggs/larva. This is a first for me. I never had any soil insect issues in the past, but have some DE lying around, so why not?
It seems these outdoor moved indoor plants do well with visits to bright windows, in addition to any special lighting you might employ.
