Well I officially have 1 live specimen of auto afghan kush ryder and germed it about 4 days ago.:hump: The seed popped and I let it grow till root was a bout 1/4 an inch long. I planted it shallow(just so root was in ground shell is barely sticking out on top of soil) in a 5 gallon bucket with some holes for drainage and I am anxiously waiting for this fucker to pop up.
My question is how long should it take for the seed to sprout out of the ground and get its first set of leaves?:weed: By the way I dont really have a heat source for my "plants". Im growing in my basement so temperatures vary from about 60-68F. Also should I put my lights on for supplemental heating or is the temperature ok? I have my lights off
(2 105wcfl) do seedlings need the light?

Thanks:?

You want that shell under the soil, it's pushing through this that takes the casing off.

Lights should be your concern, not so much temps, because light is the very first thing on your seedling's agenda.
I'd fire up one of your cfl's.

(I still don't get why people don't just put their seeds straight into the soil; cannabis has been doing this by itself (well, maybe some bird help) for thousands of years.)

From sowing the seed, to first true leafs; this has to be the most delicate stage in the plant's life cycle. And also the stage where "less is more"...
