need help...how to tie down plants *w/pics*

It really just evens out the canopy, so the lower area of the plant gets more light exposure when you lower the lights. You can just leave it that way till you harvest, if you like. But generally, after a few weeks, if you untie the plant, it'll usually stay that way on it's own...Might spring back up a few inches.

There are many different methods. This method uses plant stakes, pieces of 1' tall decorative fencing and bread ties. Then it's just practice and experience with each individual strain and your personal growing area.

Little wire "S" hooks, a hank of twine or string. An "S" hook to the stem, an "S" hook to the lip of your planter and twine between the two. Don't ask where to buy "S" hooks like at Lowes. Figure it out - a pair of pliers, a roll of wire and thee. It ain't rocket science. Florists wires are available at Michaels and Hobby Land etc.
Outdoors welding rod bent in the shape of a shepherds crook. Drive the long end in the ground and lay the main stem under it. Start very young when very pliable. I then top, allow for up to 8 leading colas, and braid it like a chicks hair. As it grows you do this. Lay that sucker on the top of a big ol' punkin vine you planted and a pot head would have to trip over it to recognize it. Keeps the stem and leaves off the ground. All the side branches then become top colas in effect. SCROG in effect without need of a screen.
Come Fall you have a bunch of nice size buds and a big ol' punkin or 4. Happy Halloween!

in my experience, that thin flexible steel wire with a thick coating of flexible rubber is the most convenient and softest on the plant for training.
i used garden twine for my first training job and it was not only difficult and time consuming, but was prone to coming undone despite triple knotting (plants pull HARD against those ties if they are healthy)
i'm serious. the with the plants i'm growing right now, i can play some songs using the different notes of the training twine
however, i believe that if i ever try a SCROG i will find it to be the easiest of all

ok so here's updated pics. i used what i had for now (scotch tape). i supercropped some branches and taped down the tops. i'm thinking of using the string/tie wire and drilling holes in the lip of the pots so i have a place to tie them up. thanks for all the replies, yall are saving my ass and my babies!!! happy smokin'

Both are the same. Who knows what happened. Here's my latest SSH braid. Pic is 2 weeks old but you can see the lollipopped trunk and where the braid starts.
That's a big spring steel paper clip around it to give you an idea how the top can be gathered in. Works great on sativas due to the stretch compared to indicas. All the side branches are now up and the HPS is 12" away. I'll post updated pics as it goes.

they are both headband/sour kush... the short bushy one is another strain (not sure what i forget lol) but the three were all started together and the headband just shot up like weeds i couldn't slow them down...
*edit* i also didn't top them like i should have early enough but i think that would only have helped alittle. just in the genetics to stretch. (note the short bushy i didn't top at all)
kinda hard to make out whats going on... the pics are a little busy but you have my interest if you can post some more. this is my second grow (first decent one) so i can use all the help i can get!

Today I will have pics. It will show how I do it. I have the one SSH braid that is now in flower. I have another SSH prepped and trimmed to braid and we will do it today. And a White Widow that shows how I start them. She will be braided up in a month. I can lay a lot of them under a light. Pics tonight!
