I'm using growilla bud by botanicare in coco I topped dressed with recommended amount per 3 gal container and I checked my coco ph with blue lab soil probe tester and it's between 6.8-7.4. I believe it has already started locking out magnesium I am 16 days into flower how can I go about lowering ph of medium. I believe what caused this is the oyster shell in the growilla bud. I don't understand why it would be recommended for coco if it's going to raise ph so high

.6 is a large difference. I question the accuracy of those types of testers. How about a pic of the plant? And what is the pH of are you feeding/watering?

Won't flushing continue to break down the oyster shell that's in the growilla bud? I read peat moss can lower ph maybe I could to dress with little peat moss

Here's some pics checked ph with probe again today went down just little bit. I think I'm going to switch over to organicare pure bloom

Just run a bunch of 5.8 thru it and then resume feeding and pay attention to your PH when you mix your nutes. Flushing coco could not be easier. Just flush it!

Do what he ↑ said, took the words right out of my mouth. I grow in coco and since coco is an inert medium (hydroponic) you can give it a flush and literally wash away the salt build up, high ec nutrient in your medium and so on.
BUT.. Do not flush your coco with straight water, you will rinse away your caution balance and compound your problems and lockouts. What i do when i flush is drop my nutrients mix by 3/4. Examples: if my ec is 1.6 i would drop it to .4
Hope this helps, good luck on your grow!

I did not know that you should not flush with plain water. Can you elaborate a little bit on what you mean when you say rinse away your caution balance.

cation exchange capacity
ability of media/+nutrient solution to hold positive charges (cations) available for uptake by roots.
In a nut shell...
basically when your rinsing/flushing your coco with plain water your messing with your cation balance and washing away most of not all your nuterients and minerals from your root system. So all of a sudden(till next feed or 2 with normal feed) your plant goes from getting a normalized mineral intake , to nothing at all, and stemming from this can cause you lockouts and stress. Might not seem like a big deal, but your plants will thank you. I would always flush with a minimal amount of nutes.

Thanks! I love learning new stuff on here :)
