I like the Sun Sytem reflectors. They are well designed and a quality product. If you don't have a 1000w light then don't go for any of the XXXL or Raptor hoods. Just not worth it. Try out the Cool Sun or the Yiled Master. Good hood in my opinion.

Hey phillip wat do you think of the luxor from sunlight supply?
That thing does look pretty BADASS! My concerns with it are that it weighs a TON; I think 30lbs. It seems to have a small footprint at only 24"x24" so I would be worried about the actual footprint on the plants. They air cooling ducts are actually facing the mogul socket and not the bulb so I would wonder if that affects temps on the bulb o if there is enough circulation to pull that air out as well. Since you hang your light vertically I feel like the majority of the light is reflected off the serface of the hood towards the plant. In a horizontal bulb you are getting 50% of the bulbs direct light. Also, it is about 24-30" deep. That is restrictive in a lot of rooms. Magnum XXXL hoods are only about 11" deep which means you have more room under the hoods to grow taller plants. Just my thoughs when I looked at it. I'm no expert though.

Hey Dopeman. That reflector looks fine. A little pricey but I'm not sure what the available market is up in Canada. Stay away from wing reflectors if you can. They add heat to your room that needs to be cooled somehow. Great if you have a large room and a big a/c. Not so good in smaller setups. Cooltubes are the exact opposite. Great for small setups but I hate using them unless you have to. I would go with the air cooled one.

100% agree. I'm using three of their hoods now. Just make sure you get something modern. When i say modern i mean have at least a 6 inch port into it, a gasket on the glass, and made to be not too deep. The older Sun Systems were too deep, and even for large hoods had little tiny 4 inch ports. Even those were pretty damn good though.
Also Cool Tubes man. There is a reason so many people swear by them, and for certain types of scrogs, and "pack 'em in" type "lolipoppers" they are very efficient.

Check out plantlightinghydroponics.com...you don't need the extra large reflectors unless you plan on upgrading to a 1000 watt lamp. Greners has a good reflector test/review on their website too. The Luxor is great if you have the head room...and the budget...it ranks #1 on Greners' list (based on a 4x4 test), but damn it's expensive.

I use 6 different hoods, and the two best for me are the Hydrofarm Radiant 6" air cooled for 600w, and the OchoXXL 8" air cooled reflector. However I won't buy 8" ones anymore...but the reflector is fucking awesome.

If height space aint an issue try the OG hood from growlite. their about the size of a radiant give more light than the xxxl.just started my 2nd run wit em and i aint lookin back.

I am running one of these and I love it. Lightweight if you are using a growtent.
Hey Garm

I don't see any hinges. How easy to change the bulbs and clean?
Also do you have any issues with small leaks pulling smelly air from the room? Is it sealed well especially around the glass?

Thanks

Glass slides out so no hinges. Sealed well but I use extra tape to seal it completely. Weighs only 10 lbs..
