Try Apollo on Amazon I got a 400w from them about a month ago, so far no problems with the HPS or MH bulbs, and I'm a total rookie with this kind of light. They should be right in your price range, if you buy the supercheapo reflector as I did.

The LA Shop has one for 170... november there is 10% off and free shipping too. The heat is bad for any 600w light if you don't have good airflow.

I have 2 of the amazon bought Apollo 600w xxl cool tubes. In flower you will need to address the heat issue. I did by putting a large 18" fan blowing under the hood and across the tops of the flowers. I also added a 8000btu portable ac unit. im going to buy another Apollo light setup and another tent. going to 2 flower rooms. im at 2 grow cycles with the Apollo kit and they are still working perfectly. I swap out both veg and flower room bulbs after 2 harvests.

i don't think there is a warranty but it does come with both HPS and MH bulbs and is interchangable.. at least for the 400w it is.

veg and flower rooms are exactly the same (same tent, same hoods, same fans (well had the same fans), minus the difference in hps and mh lights. veg tent ran about 78* when on. flower tent ran about 86-89*. added plants and went to 92*. added an 8" intake fan and an 8" exhaust fan and added a 18" fan blowing the hot air pocket under the hood, and added 8000btu ac unit. my exhaust consists of a monster DIY carbon scrubber matted to an 8" 750cfm fan. the ac is on timer 12/12 along side the hood and cool tube fan. I bought the ac unit from home depot and bought a 5 year warranty. my flower room temps are 72* lights on and 74* lights off :) 2* difference, damn near perfect imo.

Get a Solis tek 1k ballast so if you move bigger you can run 1k like a big dog ;-) or run 400w and 600w. There not very exspensive and have great customer service. Believe it's 5yr warranty also. paid 219$ for a Solis tek digital matrix 1k on eBay from an authorized dealer, never been happier.

:leaf:rare:leaf: sent using rollitup app.......

I like ipower products from amazon. You could get a 600w mh/hps setup with a cooltube for cheaper than you'd think. Trust me, your going to want an air cooled reflector of some type. My 400 cooltube still puts out a decent amount of heat.

Thomas, check out the link in my sig below. it has all the details. iirc, the ac unit was 299 plus 150 for the warranty.

lurk, I DO dun an xxl cool tube 6" with a 6" 440 cfm fan. my grow is in my basement and temps are a constant 72-74* and 40-50% r/h year round.

Is there any way I can go around the ac or other ways to keep the room cool like cheaper methods on how to cool down the tent

get a way of getting cool intake air through the bottom of the grow, and exhaust it through the air cooled light and then out the top of the grow . Big mistake people make is getting intake mixed with exhaust. This will work if where it is mixing cool air is introduced, but a great way to get around this is exhausting into a different room (not where your intake is) and that room has an open window. the heat will pour in there and cool air will come through your room (as cool as it is outside) the heat will naturally exchange out of the window in the other room and not remix back into your grow.

a great trick i do in the summer is cool my whole house down at night by leaving the windows open and close all the windows in that night/in the morning. it keeps the house at 70 degrees until about 3 o clock and thats when the temps outside usually start to drop again, and thats when i re-open the windows.

forgot to mention when i close the windows i close the shades too, that will stop the heat from coming in the windows as much

also drawing air through your basement is good unless you have a yucky basement (mold spores) basements are usually ~60degrees

know that glass reduces amount of light getting to your plants, and should always be avoided if possible

I can't really do that either . Where I live the summer's are 90 plus in day an high 80 at night. In the winter we get snow so I might be able to do it in the winter .the summer we keep our thermostat at 72 all day an night my girl likes the house cool she can't sleep unless she under a cover .
