I recently switched over to flower with a 600w HPS and the lights increasing my temps too much! Putting my hand over it even at foot away is still uncomfortable, it takes my temps from 71 - 73 at night to 90-97 at day .... which is horrible! my veg temps were 71-73 / 80-82 ! I have one fan oscillating directly on the fan, and another in the corner of the room with a humidifier in front of it and a window open. I try to run my AC but I use a swamp cooler so its hard to movethe flow into the room.

Here is my ballast , can anyone give me some ideas to control heat.

would it be possible to put a piece of acrylic cut to fit , cut a hole into the side and duct it with a exhaust fan?

with my 600W HPS I had to get a 6 inch ventilation to get my temps down from +92 to 87F had to run it at night to get it down to 84F fist when I got myself a cool hood I could get it down on them perfect 78-80F

Just buy a cool tube or enclosed hood and a GOOD fan. $43 plus a fan $90. Then ducting and clamps. Best of luck. Its important so a baling wire fix is just gonna be a headache.

Is there a true difference between a tube and hood and is there a place you'd recommend? I figure its a investment so its worth doing it right the first time , the knowledge well surpasses the price imo!

Ha..I just looked at amazon. An enclosed hood is better than a tube. I run cooltubes in a hood. I like hoods better than batwing tubes.

I got a 430watter hps with a cooled hood. Totaly inclosed 4in ducting droped my temps 15deg easy. I was in same spot u are now. Ide suggest picking up some 2700k cfls or tubes until u can obtain a hood or a ac... rather that than cook ur plants. Live n learn...gooodluck

buy a 8 inch cool hood. for hps and attach a fan to vent it out. problem solved. as long as the heat is vented out of the room

What did you expect? It's an HID light and you don't have an inline fan. They don't run on magic.

What is your ventilation setup? What are you using for an exhaust fan? Size?

You need a cooltube, when you run the 600w it produces the same heat as a 600w heater running for 12 hours non stop. If temps aren't controlled below 85 forgte it and wait till autumn.

4x4x7 tent in basement w/ 6" ac cooled hood and 6" 440 cfm fan with speed controller. tent temps are 77* max. i can run the fan at 100/75/50% and all tent temps say the same. so i run 50%. i also have 2 stationary 5" clip type fans, 6" 250cfm booster for intake, and 8" 550 cfm booster for exhaust.

like they said, get an cool tube hood and a good fan and speed controller. i bought 90% of all my stuff on amazon.
