need advice on clones

i have clones 2wks old under dome 20w.cfl 20/4 in potting soil [jiffypots] they were dark green getting slightly lighter & showing just a little growth[leaf] small hole in bottom of jiffy pot not showing roots yet at some point should i consider weak nute solution [foliar]&or stronger light???? or should i give them more time ??? i mist them 2-4 times a day & raise dome for short periods of time i wait until they get a little dry & give them a few drops with a turkey baster [about once a week] next time i'll use cubes this is my first clone attempt & i want to succeed thanks h.h.:peace::peace::peace:
 
2 weeks and they're not showing roots yet? Weird. I would say hit them with a weak nutrient feed especially if they continue loosing color. If possible, put up some pics so we know what we're looking at. Good luck!
 
Forgot to ask how often do you water them? If you over-do it with the water, the roots will not develop quickly. Let the jiffypot get fairly dry (somewhere between moist and bone-dry) before you water again to promote root growth.
 
thanks for the reply been watering when soil feels dry averages 1a week plants are upright& appear healthy wondering if 20w.cfl is enough light & like you said maybe weak nutes just watered last night .how about foliar??? w/weak nute solution ???
 
Yeah you can try foliar feed but IMO feeding the roots works much better. Also, I don't think you're giving it enough light. Have they stretched at all since you got 'em? My advice is feed with weak nutes once a week and just water throughout the week if it needs it and get more light. What are you gonna use for light for the rest of the grow?
 
i have a 3ftx4ftx8ft high grow area w/400hps/mh currently have 6 in dirt 5gal. buckets in process of building bubbleponic next clones will be in rockwool cubes im about a month into vegging second indoor grow [first with this strain] this stuff has medium length fat leaves & if you rub it it gives off heavy ''skunky'' odor & one of them is trainwreck [cloned from a friend of mine] the skunk/indica is my choice as the t/w is sprawled all over my little room has to be tied down i have no way to post pics. only recently learned to go online gonna take computer class at library not near as slick as i would like to be i hear there is a way to post cell phone pics on computer hell i couldnt figure out how to paste that bubblehead logo with written instructions[haha] yeah 52 yrs. old &still tryin to figure this out i do however know enough to go to utube & play music videos any way my growroom is kinda full but was thinking of squeezing clones in corner farthest from light for a few hr. a day
 
took dome off clones last night & put them in corner of growroom 4 hr. then misted them & returned them to cfl. for rest of cycle will do same tonight & increase exposure time under the brighter light soil is drying out nicely
 
I too am cloning with jiffy cubes... hopefully it works out. got a friend to let me take a clipping :) it's day 2 they still look green have been misting them 2-3 times daily with a really weak b1 vitamin/transplant shock nute... hopefully they take hold. under 27w with dome

my clones are 2 wks old i put jiffy pots in a foil cake pan that is 4'' deep with a 4'' clear plastic dome i mist them 2-4 times a day pretty much same as you good luck
 
if you are growing in hydroton, in bubble ponics. there is no reason I can think of not to just stick the jiffy pot right into the system. don't bother to rinse it off the roots. whenever I get a clone from my buddy its in jiffy pot I have successfully put it straight into a steath hydroponic bubbleponic system and bubble buckets. good luck
 
here is an update mon 9/28/o9 will be 3wks. started clones in soil [jiffy-pots.not to be confused with jiffy cubes] roots never came out of bottom of pot so taking a small fork i dug clones up starting with 2 worst looking of 7 the 2 had no roots just ball on bottom remaining5 have roots 11/2''-1'' long due to small size of jiffypots i trans planted into larger peat-pots so far the 5 look good the 2 without roots are still are in the jiffy pots under dome& cfl i dont expect them to make it gonna take more clones for back-up & then start 12/12 cycle i have 3 strains going right now & whichever prooves to be best all around indoor performer i'll keep i have to sell off some of it to offset operating cost like many others out there the economy sucks for me right now . also considering buying seeds from seed bank green house seeds big bang looks to be all-around performer
 
i jus started a new method of cloning cuz i was sik of babyin them in jiffy plugs/pots... i took a 2 gal rubbermaid container($5 at wall mart) and cut 35, 1inch square holes in the lid... then i got styrofoam to cover the holes... i put a slit in th styrofoam to hold the clone in place and then snap it in 1/2 when the roots develop and take it out f the cloner... im using a fogger to keep the stems moist so they develop roots... i purchased the fogger at a party supply store for 25$ CAN... since its haloween soon, they r every where... i started them 3 days ago and i have not yet added more water to the resavoir nor have i misted them or put a humidor over them... they r lookin great... hear roots in bout 6 days like this..u keep the fogger on 24/7... u could keep em greener by cuttin bak on sum light so they concentrate on rooting rather then growin.. how much light r they gettin and how close r they to it???

*edit* the fogger has lights on it but i jus put black electrical tape over them
 
hey sogbunn you musta read my mind gotta be an easier way & i like buildin stuff out of readily accessable stuff ibet the fogger maintains steady temp i gotta try this as being able to clone is happening i put my surving clones i transplanted in vegging 400w.grow room in far corner so-far so-good tired of babying them 24/7 they were under23/100.w cfl 2wks. then started putting them under hps/mh 4hr then8hr. now almost wk.3 & 18/6 light cycle keep me posted on your cloner & thanks for the info definatly interested ... since ive started this stuff i've had a really cool time putting it all together & i dont even have to leave the place... h.h.
 
I have had pretty good sucres cloning with olivias cloning gel and solutions. I myself like to soak my rockwool for just a few minites the onset my cuttings then I mist them and leave them in total darkness for a day or two and then under 24/7 flour. once I see they are not wilting I take the dome off and mist again leaving the dome off altogether after just 4 days. jk have been able to get 80% doing it this way. hope it helps
 
leftreartire thanks for the reply they have olivias at the local hydro store have read about it here&there on r.i.u. this cloning stuff has came hard for me just checked babys in grow room completed first full day under 400-mh. leaves are slanting towards light & pretty ''perky'' i think theyre gonna take off still a little early though approaching 3wks. on second dirt grow in process of making bubble ponic plan on completing this week end & ordering nutes also need hydroton [hopr i got the name right] then that opens a whole other can of worms but yeah i think successfull cloning is almost as rewarding as manicuring buds the start & the finish only my opinion though this will be first time using my own clones

ya man.. i got sik of mistng evry day twice and making sure there was enuff humidity and then leave town for a day 10 days into my clones and they die... waste of time... now i dont do shit.. plus i can see the roots grow so im not always wondering if they r there and jus not out the jiffy plug yet
