Need Advice, I'm only 18 years old.

Ok so I wanna start out with the fact that I'm an 18 year old kid. I've always loved marijuana and the effects it had on me personally. Growing up I had a serious case of depression and over the past few years smoking weed really helped me open up and resolve some of the issues...

Now here's where I need some help and some information on where to go. I've always strived to find something in life I'm truly interested in. I live with my parents, Step-Dad is in the military and mom is a full time college student. They have no problem with me smoking marijuana as long as it's not in the house and what not. That's just because my step-dad can get in trouble with the Army.

The past few months I've sat down with my mom on a few occasions and really opened up about my marijuana enthusiasm. She's always supported me in my decisions as she wants me to live a happy and successful life. Keep in my mind, I've smoked with my mom one time and that's because we had a new years party, and she found my bud after all the guest left and I happened to roll a J with her and smoke it. Anyways enough with the story telling, let's get down to it.

I've never truly been interested in school academics when it comes to math, reading, etc, etc. I've always done enough to just get by. I never really was passionate about a career choice until Marijuana was legalized. The past few years I've really realized what I've wanted to do and that's work on a farm in the west or even in a more recent legalized state. I have just enough money to make a move somewhere and start fresh. I live in Georgia so it's very hard to reach out to people in the industry. I've stalked RIU for the past years without an account and decided to make an account today and get advice from the veterans and members of the industry who have experiences that I don't...

So I guess what I'm asking is what is the best way to approach landing a job/talking to a farm/dispensary. I'm genuinely passionate about the industry and want to make a life out of it. I hope one day to start my own farm, maybe even a dispensary.

For those of you who take the time to read this and reply with legitimate advice, I seriously appreciate it. For all those who read and don't reply, I hope you enjoyed the background on me :P

Anyways thanks everyone!

Kind Regards,
Serion

The industry can be very competitive out west, especially in states where it's legal. You could make a lot more money staying in Georgia. Get yourself a nice indoor setup. Maybe a couple of grow tents, and start from there

you got no grow experience or anything... maybe someone will hook you up with a trimming job or something. but you got no experience in trimming...

im really in getting high.. can i be an astronaut?
That makes a lot of sense, I could see where that would be an issue.

But my counter to that, I'm a very fast learner. I'm addicted to small details and I've read a lot about trimming and studied growing tactics for indoors/outdoors, just never grew personally. Had a few friends grow here in my town, just always had bad luck and the plants were found.

But thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!

I've thought about doing that, I just don't live on my own and don't have the money to live on my own. My parents have nothing wrong with me smoking it like I said, but they would kill me if I started growing.

There is serious money in the traffic of cocaine. Have you ever stuffed a small balloon up your asshole? Or perhaps 18 small balloons?
HAHAHA, I've actually tried cocaine once, just never smuggled it in my asshole yet.

youre better off learning a trade.. i was a shithead as a kid.. screwed around in school.. was in and out of trouble all the time.. took me a while to figure out what i wanted to do. im only 27 now but im doing alright. went to school for welding, great money in that and if you like detail.. fabrication is a great job for you.. but i did my apprenticeship in plumbing, got my journeyman and now im working for myself. it helps my dad owns a plumbing company and he throws me work sometimes if i want it. but i run my own jobs and i make $95/hr just on labor. id have to trim a lot of plants for that lol. go to a hands on school.. if its something your into, youll have fun and learn something cool. then once your set and got your shit together start up a nice personal grow and see how ya do

Yea, I loved cocaine 20 years ago. I suspect my heart would explode if I did it now. I just stick with Test Enanthate, Anavar, D bol and deca. Keeps my muscles nice and warm, plus it makes my dick look huge.

on the real tip though. learn computers. become a computer nerd, in less than 5 years you could be pulling in over $100,000 without breaking a sweat. fo realz.

Very sensible, solid advice.

I would listen to this.

Imho consider higher education
Whether that be a trade course or something that interests you

Do you have a job ?

You got aspirations and dreams which is great but you also need to be realistic that you're becoming an adult and need to start supporting yourself or working towards getting on your own two feet

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm very smart with computers when it comes to Botnets, Rats, etc, etc. I've thought about possibly starting my own Security Company, just need the right team.

But yes, computer science is as wonderful major and field to work in. As the years go by and technology advances, it only becomes more needed.

Go to college, major in horticulture. If you think you'd like the cannabis biz, you'll love hort., and then you can bring skills to the table. There are no short cuts kid
Seems like a very logical idea. I just hope college is for me. High School wasn't for me if you can understand that. Just never was interested in schooling.

I actually recently quit my last job and will be getting hired at new place this week. I've made alright money for myself from selling the occasional ounce here and there haha, but always had a hard time saving money. Living with my parents is hard to develop those skills since I don't have to worry about to many things. The past few weeks have really hit me and I'm trying to better myself and my future.

It's when you have a job and you live at home that you save the most money

Try looking up some money budgeting management info to help you

It's much harder to save when you do have bills and rent and responsibility

Stay out of security, not enough money in it, unless you plan on starting your own firm. Which is a very competitive field.

Best bet if you're not a highly motivated person is to learn a popular language, like Node.js or Ruby (on Rails) and get into freelance or contract work. In about 2 years or so, you can command around $80/hour if you're really good. And you get to work from home, listen to music, tend to your plants and have hookers come suck you off on the regs.

So I'm in my early 30's. I've been growing for profit for about 13 years now. I just made the move to a legal state about a month ago. It's alright, but you need some experience. I've heard when my brothers (works in a warehouse) dispensary puts up craigslist add for a bud tender they get about 150 emails before noon?!?!. So just keep in mind there in now way in hell you'll land that job. Everybody wants in the biz. Unfortunately it's all about who you know.

And you'll need about $12,000 for the move. That's about what it cost us.

You need to understand the pay for starting industry jobs are about the same as any other. So don't expect to get rich.

So once you get to where you decide you are going, then what?

So I have a ton of really expensive equipment, a huge basement, tons of knowledge. So I grow a ton of pot, then what? It's still illegal to sell the shit. And lbs are down 1,800 right now in Denver.

Sounds depressing, but it's not. But don't think for a second you'll be 100% legal.

Now let's say hypothetically you have about 6K laying around. Well rent a house in NoCo. I'll help you set everything up. We split the profit of the first 3 runs, I'll teach you everything, then you can go on your own. After you get your med and learn how this game works, I might even be able to set you up with a trim job. But they only pay like 10 to 12 per hour..

This applies to any member as long as you are not a douche bag

You want good advice...

Get into a trade. electrical is great. Your gonna need that if you want to grow big anyway. become well rounded though. go to a construction company and start at the bottom for them. make enough money to get out and get your own place with enough room to grow and get good at it. Make connections in the industry and then find a niche. Its a long road. Plus, you will always have a trade to fall back on. Thats my 2cents.

I dont see you getting a job out there in the industry with zero experience. volunteering can be good experience but wont pay the bills.
