So you don't recon this will effect yield too much ..?

Cutting plants does affect yield. My best plant currently is my experiment of not cutting a single leaf or stem. Not only is it tall, but it is wide. And bushy. It grows faster and better then anything. Water more often and feed stronger. How hard is it to not cut your plants. I guess I only did it for all those years cause everyone else was. It is not necessary and reduces yield over the equal time frames. Nobody every mentions how long it takes to veg a super crop n top beast.
4 weeks is all it takes to get 3 feet tall and two feet wide, if you dont cut them. If you do, you can enjoy the benefit of permanently short plants.
I must note that each strain will act differently.

i know and have read grow diaries where top growers top, prune and use lst to achieve high yielding plants. Fair enough if you can achieve these results without doing any of that and as you said every strain is different.
All I want to know is how can a staggered growth pattern effect my yield..?

Hummmm.....sorry but, I totally disagree... I really believe there are too many variables to make a blanket statement like that.... The clones I grow from my own stock, are better and grow faster with better/closer node spacing than the original plant grown from seed...
Yes it is cloned from a mature plant with staggered node spacing.....Yes I grow the same cloned plant over and over…

Well in my experience its true..from what I've read other people have similar experiences.. every plant I've ever grown had the same spacing,growing exactly the same under the same conditions, because they had the same spacing but put out one beach instead of two my original from seed plants always put out better...but thanks for your input..not saying I'm right

Mr. E nailed it but apparently alot of folks missed it. Big yields come from training.
Bend the highest growing shoots down to let the others catch up and become the dominant leader.
Repeat.
Repeat again
Repeat yet another time
Lollipop the shit out of your plant

Lollipop again week 3 or 4 (not to aggressive or you will here it)

ok . it you plant a bean. and it pops. great and then place it into flower, usually it will only have 1 major bud site, the very top. the lower ones will have smaller buds, soooooooooo when you cut your plant for a clone you cut the top off , use it for a clone. and do it a few times, the plant from the bean . will have 10 or more major bud sites, sooner or later, so yes you will get that much more yield, topping does work. problem is you need to have 3 or more months invested into it. this way, but works very well. if you have time and need clones go for it .

topping staggered or even does no make any difference and a lot of the time you will get even growth on a indica dominant phoneo/plant and staggered growth on a sativa phones plant.
its not down to the strain as you can buy a pack of white widow and still get some sativa plants in the pack
every plant will be different grown from a pack of seeds and when you find the best plant out the pack, if you have taking some cutting from that plant, they will all grow, yield and have the same high.
so a cutting from a high yielding plant will give you a room full of of top yielding plants and yield more than the plants grown from the pack of seeds
training your plants
if you have a 4ft x 4ft room you need to fill it (canopy) about 70% in veg so there room for the plants to stretch in flower
so if you need to top and lst the plants too get them wide and bushy to fill the room, you need to do it or you will lose yield
even if your growing under a 1000w hps there no point growing a plant more than 30" high as the light can't perpetrate the canopy more than about 2ft

if you train the plants right and defoliation the canopy, remove some nodes and make sure there's light and airflow going throw the canopy you will get good size buds
large untrained plants often have a lot of airy buds to deal with as the canopy does not get the airflow or light needed for good bud growth
also to many tops will reduce the amount of nutes and water the roots can give each node/bud site so they grow smaller
but topping and training will slow the top growth down and give the roots more time to grow larger

Sure, the plant has just so much energy, the most efficient use of it is, letting it flow into a few buds that become big and show their full potential even when the plant is flowered at a smaller size... Rather then lots of little buds all over. So, staggering probably actually improves your yield a bit, as few bud sites appear... That's also why training, super cropping, pruning, and defoliation, all improve your yield!

Here's a good example: A cutting in veg of the Wonderjacks clone (I'm the creator of Wonderjacks, in case your interested)... 
I am training, super cropping, and defoliating this cutting all at the same time. You can see already the effect it is having. The upper part of the stem is actually getting bigger then the lower part of the stem.
