Nearing completion of first grow

Back on April 1rst started 2 Nirvana feminized Jock Horror seeds.

I started them in Rapid Rooter cubes then moved to GrowDan blocks in Smartpots filled with Maidenwell Silica.

I had 2- 4 ft X 8 ft sheet of water resistant white shiny bathroom tile sheathing

I built a 3 sided cubicle w/ 4 ft X 4 ft reflective ceiling of same sheathing and cut out in center for a Silver Star 600 W Reflective Hood

Ran Plantmax 600 W MH for 7 weeks until plants were 26" - 28", I was concerned about height and thought they may double in size during their 9 - 11 week Harvest cycle.

They were in 32 Gallon containers with Smartpots #5 suspended in center.

I drip fed using 160 GPM pump run continuous for water circulation and 250 GPM for Drip feed, 2- feeds in each pot.

Watered 5 times daily 1/2 hour each time evenly spaced over 16 hr period.

My nuts were Botanicare Organic Pro Grow, Aquashield and Liquid Karma for Veg and Pro Bloom, Aquashield and Liquid Karma for Flower.

In these pics they are in 6 weeks of Flower.

I didn't have any smoke so when I found cloudy trich's through my Radio Shack microscope I took the 4 top colas off the small plant over a weeks period. I got an ounce dry. It has been in jar now for only week.

The smoke is smooth, even though the first cola wasn't flushed at all when I took it off. The other 3 I took off week later after flushing with fresh water.

I've started them back on their bloom diet and they are looking great, I think?

I will keep watching and in about 2 weeks I will begin to slowly flush adding to bloom resevoir a little at a time. In about a week then they will have a fresh resevoir and will be in 9nth week of bloom and I will flush for next 2 weeks with fresh water.

After over 35 yrs of smoking this is my first grow. It was thoroughly enjoyable to watch and the smoke is outstanding clear high last about 2 hrs and you can smoke to oblivion if you choose it just keeps getting you higher the more you smoke.

Extremely anxious to try finished product flushed cured properly!!

Looks good man. Maby it is just the camera but i think they may go a bit longer than 8 weeks. Just watch the thichs and take em down when you start to see amber.

yeah they look too healthy to be ready...I noticed that it's never ripe until the leaves around the buds start to die and crumble. Amazing grow though look like you really cared for those plants

This got me extremely excited. I am currently doing an outdoor grow of Nirvana's feminized Jock Horror that I started around April 11th. I am still 3-4 months away from harvest but just had to say that those buds look awesome. All those trichs are ridiculous! I pray that that is what mine turn out like. Looks like an awesome first grow. Top grade shit. How tall are they?

Just out of curiosity, how would you describe the smell. When I rub the stems of my girls and then smell my fingers, it is one of the greatest smells I've ever come across. I really hope that is what my buds will smell/taste like. Seems like a real winner of a strain. I've had a few problems but I think it has to do with growing outdoors. I'm pleased with how they are growing for my first time. Hoping for 6-7 footers, although they are already starting to grow into each other...

Yea they are really very healthy. The Trich's are cloudy and I don't see any amber yet. Howeve,r the cola's I cut to get me through the rest of the grow, have given me a really clear high. A high frankly I'm not really accustomed to smoking. It lasts about 2 hrs or longer and is a great daytime smoke. I actually am a professional and can smoke and go straight to my office and function no problem. Thx for the heads up. I'm just gonna watch them and if they're not quite ready I will let them keep going a few more weeks.

I am starting to see leaves yellowing on back plant. I'm really excited to watch them to completion for hands on experience and to taste the final product.

Ivnv yes these seem to be a veru healthy strain. As a newb I have been extremely satisfied. Based on curing 4 colas on smaller plant to get me by until final harvest I estimated I will get probably at least 10 OZ from these 2 plants. I vegged 7 weeks and reached 27-29" before I went into flower. Taday the back plant is 48" and the front 45". The smell is skunky kinda dieselly. Can't really put finger on but definitely a pleasant aroma I look forward to. The colas I cut have been in jar about a week and I have attached a few pics to show you. If this weed is this good not flowered to completion or flushed and cured properly man I can't wait!!

I did inadvetantly abuse mine in the learning process. One time on my smallest plant it turned sideways and fell over and cut off 3 main fan leaves.
I think it affected propably height a little.

I would be surprised if you don't make 6-7 feet based onmy experience. Good luck they look great!!

Here are my 1 week cured prematurely harvested tops. I must say though the trichs on these colas were cloudy consistenly across buds.

Wow, those buds look COVERED in crystals. Fantastic. Hope I get something like that. I am really looking for that clear high you are talking about. At first I thought mine smelled like a diesel, but now I must say it is very lemony. It is definitely not a smell that I come across every day.

I feel your excitement as I am nearing my first indoor harvest! I am looking closely at the trichomes daily by taking super-macro shots and enlarging the photos on my computer for a close look. They are still clear - maybe a touch of cloudiness setting in, no amber yet.

Yea I just can't place the smell. I took 3 small colas off front yesterday, they look like were dipped in powdered sugar. Hung up now. I read about keeping leaves on during drying process that some form of synthesis takes place after harvest that occurs only through leaves, as well as it protects flower. So I left on and this morning it is kinda cool the leaves are like encompassing everything, I even left main fan leaves on. It kinda resembles a cocoon. So I'm anxious to see how they turn out. I'm gonna take my plants down in increments at various phases and mark each jar with clip date to test the different highs. I mentioned I just saw my first amber trichs on back plant yesterday. What camera are you using for macro. I have a Sony Digital 700 zoom but it goes digital after like 25X and just doesnt do it. The Eye clops looks pretty cool and takes pics to that are easily transferable to computer. I just have 12 Radio shack special. It really frustrated me first day of using but have actually gotten used to it. I just hate having to touch plants usually to get best look. I saw my first amber trichs yesterday. I am going to take my plants down in increments to test various differences from cloudy to amber at different levels. I can't believe how much I enjoyed growing these plants. I go several times a day to just stare at them and watch their progress. Very relaxing. Just anxious to see final result grown, flushed, harvested and cured correctly. Because I can tell you this Jock already provides a really good high, that lasts. I can't imagine what the end will produce!

looks great for a first time grow! being a botanicare user, i would recommend that you use their hydroplex to dramatically increase yield. good luck on future grows

thx! They are really covered and last 3 i cut off last night looked like they were dipped in powder sugar. They r hanging and drying. Cant' wait to see how it compares with colas smoking now from couple a weeks ago. It is a clear and pretty long lasting high. I can't really put my finger on smell!!

Thx I will look into hyroplex. Yea I am thoroughly happy with how they r turning out. I anticipate based on colas alreadt harvested from smaller plant, that I will likely yield about 8 - 10 OZ's from this first grow.

10 oz's from a first grow..... sounds like a party!

Yea I didn't know what to expect I'm blown away!! How happy can you be!!

Hell of a job for a first grow man, looks like you did some reaserch/knew what you where doing before you started. i hate seeing ppl who start a grow and dont even know what kind of lights to use, once again nice work.

Thanks alot I appreciate the Kudos. I was really nervous at first and did check it out ahead of time. Went to my semi-local hydro shop. Guy really helped me out pointing me in right direction. I do take credit for nursing those babies along. I spend probably at least 2 hours every day observing them. I have drip fed system and have been running my drip pretty much all day. Again appreciate kind words. I'll update with pics as i get closer or right after I take down and start assesing final weight.

I have a Canon Powershot SX10 IS - bought specifically for the super macro function. I can get the camera about .5 of an inch from my subject. I like to do close up plant photography in general - I just added the weed to the list of subject matters once I started growing.
