Not ignoring you Cannadan, just wish you'd read the regs, you are far off the mark. And I really don't believe that there is any sincerity to your words.

L/D's can buy and sell marihuana too. The word middleman is not even in the regs to the best of my knowledge. They are obviously pushing HC, forcing them to clarify the regs. This is what we are doing too, and what I believe needs to happen. It took 10 years for people to realize the potential of the MMAR, let us not make that mistake again, how many people went to prison and paid lawyers and fines because the red tape in the MMAR scared them. We need to understand how far the rules can be bent or even broken like in the Conroy's case. Speaking as a fellow risk taker, the faster we learn the better.

This is not the direction I would have chosen to push, but I like to give credit where credit is due, they are looking outside the box.

I understand what you're saying. I think you have to be very careful if you are applying to get an LP on how much you want to "push the envelope". You know who we are dealing with, and you know they can very easily exclude you from the playground. HC has been clarifying MMPR regulations behind the scene as applications are being processed. You attract more bees with honey...

Assumption made that we all regard "middleman" as a company that markets and sells.

I must have misread or misunderstood on the LD issue. I cannot find where it states that a LD can sell. Can you point me in the right direction on this one Kgirl?....tia

LD, IMO, was a provision mainly put in place for a future with pharmacies, which would buy and sell, look in the Narcotic control regulations sec.8 "a licensed dealer shall produce, make, assemble, import, export, sell, provide, transport, send, or deliver a narcotic".

I agree with you about honey, I will politely push HC, for me it is about money and commonsense, in that order, and they will decide, and I will comply. I just want to know where the line is. I can put my sharp tongue away at anytime, no problem.

In my neck of the woods, what an LD is and what it can be in the future has been debated as much as QAP issue.
I am familiar with the definition of LD in the NCR, but we are talking about within the MMPR.
I know for sure that labs fall under the LD category, but I'm not sure what else does.
It's interesting, and has huge implications.

Re the honey comment. I hope that didn't come over as arrogant or condescending. I'm not doubting your abilities in any way. I was trying to reflect some advice from our lawyer. He's had a lot of experience dealing with the federal govt.

No worries leaffan, in the definitions of the MMPR regs, under LD it refers you to the NC regs. Seems pretty clear, what am I missing?

I don't believe in banging my head against the (HC)wall, I'm not out to or capable of changing the rules, I just want to comply for the least amount of cash possible. It is good advice from your lawyer, we are just bad numbers to HC, but, at the end of the day some individual person will have to deal with me, and I plan on charming them as much as possible, maybe even get a sympathy vote. There is no room for hostility, I understand that that will not further my well known goals.

Sorry unfortunately I did read the regs because my initial knee jerk reaction was to also become an LP but I'm implying that if you look far enough into the
future you will see thru regulation like with most industries or commodities it
will be necessary to cap production levels etc. to protect against over production at which time the
marketing structure will call for quota to be put in place and sold to its members .
This is basic commodity structure and unless you end up with complete legalization for recreational use and a wide open
market , which the MMPR does not provide. You will see that structure put in place quite soon after a flooded market
causes a collapse in your pricing
Theres not much tax to be grabbed up from 50 cent a gram herb.
Though I'm not kidding myself for thinking that the governments more than giddy about getting the hst on everything from your raw materials thru to your packaging, from your, hydro thru to your sub contractor wages and way further and beyond.
The HST grab on creating a new industry is more than immense .

Cap production, like other crops? Huh? Marketing structure will call for quota? What? Sold to members of what, who? Wow, .50 cents a gram, not even remotely a chance of that happening. Please explain if you can, really am interested.

Funny, I have already received a GST refund in the name of my new business, took a picture of it, then immediately got a call from revenue Canada asking us what we thought we should be categorized as. We have marihuana in our name.
