Thought this was a cool story because I'd never heard of this Aquarius Underwater Laboratory.

shit their going to an asteroid. what next dude, you only hear about this on movies.

Actually ... no. The asteroid pretext was chosen to simulate a space mission of a few months. A Mars mission would take nearly three years, and Moon missions are a) short, and b) done. There are no spacecraft being built/planned that could support even the asteroid mission ... this is more likely a cheap, down-home way to run psychological isolation experiments in the space station style, without associated launch expense. cn
