My Vortex Seed Plan

So I'm going to spend the next few years developing the best possible TGA Subcool Vortex representation into seed form. I'm working with 2 oth er guys in Arizona where we will be breeding from teh 100+ F1's and a few very special clones. First off I met a guy who's facility ran through 1500 Vortex plants to find 7 keepersl. I took his best of the 7, and my plan is to breed it with a male I find. I asked Duke Diamond about how to best choose a Vortex male and he gave me a list of critera to look for in the phenotype to use for breeding. I'm going to follow his direction and find a male in the seeds. Once I have the male I will breed it with that clone. then back cross it and from those seeds select a male that matches Duke Diamonds instruction so it has those traits and also the potency and flavor of the best of the clones.

Then I will go on the hunt for females with my 2 partners. We will select two separate different phenotypes. The first will be my favorite traits of Vortex which is Candied Mango flavor. I will breed that selectivley to an F3. Then my partner will choose his favorite traits from t he 100-200 seeds. We will breed those traits down to F3's using the designed Male on both phenotypes as well. Oncce thats completed we will take both F3's which will be similar but different and holpefully at this poinjt special enough to move forward if not back a step. BUT if all is great and both F3's are stellar for differnt reasons then we will breed the two of them together so the offspring swings between the two different traits.

If we can't find what we are looking for in the seeds we have then we'll go to plan B and gather the last 6 of the clones from his 1500 platn hunt and use the male on them.

All in all this will be a decade in the making. I thought i'd put my intentions here first so as my plans change I can look back and laugh at what my original plan was vs wher I wind up.

Oh yeah that male will be a slut. I'm going to breed him with every clone I can get my hands on and see what sticks.

I just picked up a pack of Vortex x G13 (bx2) from Hazeman, I was feeling a little nostalgic for the old Vortex myself. If you want to be sure to get a good male, I'd pick several, pollinate your female with each, either individual branches if you are good at isolating, or individual clones, then grow out the offspring and pick your male based on the quality of those crosses. There is no fool proof way of picking a male without growing out their kids and comparing them. Quality breeding is a numbers game. Good luck!

Great point! I agree that is the best way to do it.
