My spur of the moment grow

So after a lot of research I've found one plant has a phosphorus deficiency and the other has nitrogen toxicity. I have not given them any Grow Big while in flower, just Big Bloom and Tiger bloom. But I'm going to add Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz to up the phosphorus and potassium. I hate looking at the "claw" looking leaves but hopefully bud development wont be hurt too much. I'm trying to figure out how I only used the Fox Farms trio from start to finish no other soil amendments or supplements when I used to grow. Because I definitely cannot get by with just those three now. The debate I'm having with myself is whether I should feed or just give plain pH'd water again and then feed the next time. Might be best to just water again and make sure there aren't an excess nutrients in the soil because I haven't given FF Grow Big in a month but my plants do look very dark green. Only one has the claw leaves and I hope to keep it that way but I know for next time I need to adjust my nutrients better for flower

I'm starting to realize i need more than just my fox farm trio too. I also never mess with the ph. Though when i tested the soil in my planter it was actually pretty close to what it needs to be. I need to find some sort of ph pen or something. I just actually ground up a bunch of egg shells and put the dust into my compost pile, but that calcium won't be available to my plants for months.

Yea I def needed CalMag with the Royal Medic, stems were weak until I started giving them that. The pH is important you can get a small pH up and down kit in the mean time, cuz if the pH is off it wont matter what nutrients you give them.

you can use baking soda and apple cider vinager to adjust ph too if you need to do it in a pinch or don't want to spend the dollars. any updates?

BOG and Pure Kush are my two that are furthest along. The hairs on the Pure Kush are turning reddish-brown. All my girls are looking good and are starting to really smell. I added Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz when I fed them last. Can't tell that it really helped but it surely didn't hurt.

My clones are doing good. Getting bigger and will prolly be topped soon. They're pretty low maintenance right now. I put them in a one gallon pot when I took them out of the humidity dome so the pots don't try out as fast. My Royal Medic clones seem to be doing well. I hope they take me further than their mothers did.

So I went to water my ladies this morning and saw what I thought were seeds all over the buds but upon closer inspection I realized it's the calyx swelling. Now I'm getting really excited cuz that to me signals they wont be too much longer maybe 4-5 weeks. After I see swollen calyxes it's not too much longer before I start looking for trichomes. My girls are definitely sticky and starting to get heavy. It'll be time to tie them to something soon. I split one of my babies not realizing the top was hanging over when I picked it up. I really hate that. I taped it up but not sure if it will work. It was my Jack Cookies so I hope it makes it.

I smell so many different flavors and aromas when I go in my tent. The most recognizable and strongest being lemon. I don't know how much of a harvest I'll have but it does look like I should get at least a few ounces off each plant as long as they keep progressing. I do have my clones which I'll be putting into flower as soon as my ladies are done. Attempting to do a perpetual harvest. I wanted to harvest every 6 weeks but I don't have the space to put the clones in the tent with the flowering plants since flowering is at least 8-10 weeks. I have my clones in a closet under 10 CFLs. I made my own CFL hoods a couple years ago out of a furnace vent and I can get up to 8 cfls on each hood when I put a 4-way splitter in the light sockets. I could start flowering under CFLs but I'm already worried about stressing the clones out when I put them under the stronger light not sure if I should stress them out like that during flowering.

nice nice. I chopped one of my girls early as she was starting to grow bananas. Have you harvested before or no? I remember with my cfl grows it was a lot less weight than it looked like when growing. just a warning in case your new to that. the buds weren't as dense and I was quite suprised how much weight was lost during the dry/cure process

Oh yea I know, I used to flower with a T5 so I know what happens to those big fluffy buds. I really wanted CFLs to work out when I used to grow, that's why I have a box full of them smh. CFLs are perfect for veg and I love heat isn't an issue. If I did flower under CFLs it would only be maybe the first three weeks then I would put them under the HPS. I'm just concerned about stress. Actually, I have never had a succesful harvest under my HPS. When I first got the HPS I was in a closet and the light was too close to the plants and bleached all the color out of the leaves which sucked.

oh damn that's no good. how many watts is your hps? i have a 400 watt system and I'm not finding the heat to be too much more than it was with my cfls. then again i had like 430 watts worth of cfls in there. I have my tent in the basement though where it stays around 16C all day, and if it gets above 31C I just open the door a bit.

I'm using a 600W HPS.... And my ballast died on me today. Stupid iPower crap and that was a replacement ballast. I doubt after 3 years they'll replace it so I had to order a new one. Thankfully Amazon does same day delivery

So this is the ballast I ended up going with. I hope it's not a total piece of junk but I'm skeptical because of the price. But since this was an unexpected expense and came at the worst time I had to go with a cheap ballast. It's even cheaper than what I paid for the iPower ballast but only by maybe 10 bucks

I have about 250W of CFLs and heat isn't really an issue. But I've never had 430W of CFLs going. I also haven't had to battle humidity as much. But with my 600W HPS in the tent even with an exhaust fan and a cool tube temps hit 100 degrees. I'm on the top floor of my building and boy does heat rise. You can come in downstairs and it feels like 75, before you get upstairs it feels like 95. The hallway feels like a sauna before I even enter my place. Barely run my heat in the winter time tho the only plus.

Damn that sucks. It's really hot where I am today too. I got my plants outside but they look a little heat stressed. I just left them anyways. The basemett though is pretty cool still on a day like today. Now that you mention humidity I should maybe get that in check down there. I have a small leak by my water heater, (got a pair of salamanders living down there, they got young ones lol) and the humidity down there is about 60%

Pump the brakes!!!! So I have two girls on the verge of finishing and I haven't flushed them. I snatched them out the tent and ran 6 gallons of water thru each of them only to still have 9 billion PPM. So I'm getting more water to flush them again. I am seriously hoping the smoke is going to turn out okay, I casually decide to start looking at trichomes today and my two girls I'm in a panic to flush already have amber trichomes. My Pure Kush and one of my BOG LifeStar. Most of the red hairs have started to recede into the bud on the Lifestar. My other girls are no where near completion, still developing buds and trichomes which are all clear. I was hoping for bigger colas and thought the buds would pack on more weight which is why I wasn't even checking for trichomes, but for the amount of light I have and the overcrowding I had going on in the tent I should not have expected giant buds. I am super excited to finish these two but I'm hoping they will last another week or two before I have to chop them down.

My Royal Medic clones are showing the deficiency I never figured out in the mother plants ugh. All other clones are doing very good, I topped them the other day and they're starting to look bushy. But it's driving me crazy this deficiency I can't figure out. Going to try and play with the pH of the soil see if maybe my royal medics prefer some different soil amendments.

Here's a couple shots from when I was flushing. The colas aren't that big there are 4 of them tho. I only vegged for 4 weeks, which I've already done for much longer with my clones. I will probably try to keep no more than 5 plants in the tent next time. Not that bad tho can't wait to smoke them

My royal medic definitely uses more nutes than my therapy. Both my therapy plants are fine with a regular feeding but the therapy starts to yellow fast and I have to give her a bigger feeding each time. So far though she's still good. Nice looking buds! mmm i bet they smell great

My heart is heavy.... A few weeks ago when I thought I saw seeds I was actually looking at seeds. My perfect girls have been pollenated. I'm ready to cry, but I'm going to roll up and focus on getting this grow finished so I can get the clones in. So one of my Afghani girls turned out to be a hermie and because she was so leafy I couldn't see the pollen sacs. The sacs have burst and the two girls that were the closest are nothing but seeds, barely any bud when you pick through it. I'm sure all my girls have been affected but some are worse than others. I got rid of my Jack Cookies but I think I'm going to collect all the seeds first. I don't know what will happen when I plant the seeds but I'm going to find out. Maybe I've just bred a Afghani/Jack Herer/Girl Scout cookies mix that will be awesome, female, and easy to grow.... That will be the only good thing to come of this.

I flushed two more girls today and was flushing the Jack Cookies when I noticed all the seeds. This day started off so happy and great..... I'm see more and more amber trichomes and really want to chop soon but I'm trying to wait as long as possible since I just flushed and the plants are still VERY green

So I broke a lower top on my BOG LifeStar when I was turning the plant so I decided to harvest just that branch. The other tops are bigger but this still looks pretty good. There were some amber trichomes, I was waiting for a 30%/70% amber/cloudy mix but I'm sure it'll be fine, might be nice to see how the different highs turn out.
