I mixed 1.5 Cubic feet of some cheap kellogs potting soil with 13-14 quarts of perlite and im starting seeds in 8 oz cups. I pour 1 oz and i see drainage already im worried about having to constantly water it. Will i be fine with watering every 2-3 days? Im using 52 watts cfl in a 1x1 box. Im thinking of adding dirt to improve moister mabe.

That stuff has no moisture control, and I think it already has perlite in it if I'm not mistaking. Start over, throw that stuff out and spend the extra couple of bucks for some decent soil. good luck.

Cannabis does like wet and dry cycles, so id say it should be alright. But one question, is it holding the moisture for awhile or is it drying out withen hours?

unless that's too much work for you I'd leave it alone. Are sure you even need that much water. It's probably moister than you think down below. I like to use a moisture probe too check my babies with.

You could always use a mix like that in a hempy bucket.

Just mix what you got with another bag of decent soil, use that mix to re-pot your plants. You'll need to do that soon anyway if they're in 8oz cups. until then, water as much as they need it - think of it as a manual flood and drain hydro.

I agree. Get some organic potting soil, or something made for flowers like roses or orchids. These are usually mild, high quality, and easy to find. You have a local plant nursery, google it, and you owe it to yourself to check them out before going to the conglomerate hardware supply chain store.

I'm sure the mix you have now will hold some moisture, enough to get you through the day. Just make sure you're checking them regularly. Water by weight (lift the cups, water when light and dry).

The soil is fine i lift the pot on the second day and it still has weight, i ne er used pearlite before so good drainage is new to me. The kellogs soil is organic and has no time release ferts it contains worm casting, kelp, bat guano and chicken manure. It had no perlite in the bag thats why i mixed it.
