some people....
i put my motorcycle on craigslist. it's a 1980 yamaha 400. i put about $1000 into it in the last 2 years. took 5 trips to the dmv just to clear the title. went thru the whole bike and changed everything mechanical. sprockets, chain, bearings, everything. it has an electrical issue but the lights and brake lights work. there is a short in the turn signal somewhere. mechanically it is in very good condition. i ride it all the time and it has never broken down. it's just a little too small for me.
so i put it on craigslist 3 weeks ago for $1200. kinda high but whatever. no calls. i lower it to $975. dude comes over. tries to ride it. almost falls over. stalls it. can't kick it back over 'cause he's a wuss. had to be in his 30's but he couldn't do it. i had my sandals on. so i ran him off. another week goes by...
...i lower it to $800. these 2 fine ladies come by to look at it. one was in leather. very nice. very friendly. they loved the bike. drove over an hour to look at it. she had been watching the ad for 2 weeks. i start it up. let it warm up. it's idling. she reaches over and just touches the handle bars. it dies. everything goes dark. no juice. "well that's never happened". we were all very bummed. she was ready to ride it home. i mess with this and that and can't get it to work. they leave. as i watch them turn the corner i jump on it to put it back in the backyard. it kicked right over. rode it down the driveway. wtf?
now today this guy emails me. says "i'll give you $500 because that's all it's worth". wants to know if i have the tank emblems. i email him back and say "i'm asking for $800 and i don't have the emblems". then he calls my voice mail. leaves a message. wants to know why i added 2 links to my chain. "you know those engines are pretty peppy to begin with. now you have to rev higher on the freeway." i hadn't even spoken to the guy yet. then i get another email. says he wants high resolution pics and for me to meet him half-way because he lives a couple hours away. tells me he'll offer me a little more than his original $500 if he likes it. wants to know how many miles it has. so i email him back and tell him "it's an $800 bike. it's 27 years old. what more do you want?" he comes back with......" good luck, dreamer." wtf?
i really don't like doing this.
