so if i grow two plants with a 400/600 watt hps and use the low stress bending method to have smaller plants with more yield would i need a filter or ventalion or could i just av a standard fan ( would it smell the house out without one )
If there is even a hint you might want to grow more then two plants go with the 600w, but 400w would be fine for 2 plants. The smell depends on the strain, but even one low odor strain will smell up the house. You might get by with a low odor strain and a cheap method of odor control with a plant, maybe two. But you would be better off getting a carbon filter, especially if you want to grow some of the smellier strains. In any sealed environment, you'll want something pushing air in/out.

your girl looks real heavy on the sativa side ... sometimes these stay a little less dense than indicas to begin with . personally this late in I would just get some cfls and cheap ass reflectors to help fill her in some more . On a good note though - those sativas are usually really good when they are ready : )

Below your window seal would be fine, you really don't even have to vent it outside the house unless it's a big grow. the main thing is heat regulation and pulling in fresh air. If the entrance to your grow is as open as your pic suggests you likely won't even need to vent outside your grow. Personally I don't vent out side of my grow closet, my carbon just recycles the air. Because the closet has cheap sliding doors that are far from sealed, it gets all the fresh air it needs without any assistance needed. The carbon will take just about all of the smell away, you might catch little wiffs here and there, but they aren't to frequent.
