My New Idea Of Drying Marijuana

I was thinking about smoke drying marijuana using the same methods the first nations used to smoke and preserve salmon. My therory is to place plants near the roof of a shed. Near the bottom of the shed a firepit could be made. In this fire pit cedar would be burned. As the cedar burns it would let of smoke that would flow upward towards the plants. I first heard of this method being used for drying tobacco and thought if it could dry tobacco why couldnt it dry marijuana. Any comments?????

I have never done this but wouldn't the bud smell and taste like ceder? I like my bud to taste and smell like bud.

yeah, well it was an idea if done properly it might be able to work i may give it a try on some bud to see if it would work without smelling and tasting like cedar.

it may dry it quicker but itll definatly ruin the flavour and taste,,,,youll basically be smoking it like people do fish and pork,,,theres other ways of quick drying that wont ruin things so much,,you should dry it properly,,theres a massive difference in potency smell and taste when you do it right,,,peace

your idea works, just the same as smoking salmon, but you arent smoking salmon, so it doesnt exactly seem like a good idea... unless you want smoked herbs...

seems to me that if we spend a few months caring for our beautiful ones and making sure they eat well they have good light and temp. well maybe patience is in order in the last stretch , i personnally love the idea of just sittin back for a few weeks and contemplating that first freakin puff i will take after a few months of intense labor, and if it gets to be too much well shit I,ll buy a couple of joints and some smoked salmon and just sit back and have a party you know?...I believe the wait is so good for us also because we prepare mentally to be totally fucked up by our own shit....

id use juniper or pine instead of cedar if you were to do it.

I'd be interested to see what effects the smoke would have... someone should try it and fill us all in, who knows... maybe it wouldn't effect it... never know unless you try. I would not try it only because I can't afford to lose any of my shit if it didn't turn out very well, but one of the commercial growers want to give it a shot and let us know?

Cold smoking reaches 30C or 80F I do think that oak would be the best wood, not cedar. As i said similar "smoke dry methods" have been used in pipe tabacco and some chew see here Tobacco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. So possible under the right condition and technique this could be possible.

I think this is a great idea for someone to try. Probably on a small amount, in case it ends up being awful. I would love to see the results, although I highly doubt they'd be nicer than the flavor of properly dried and cured buds.

This is easy to test.

But I would use some wood with a flavour like apple or cherry. These woods are avail in outdoor shops for smoking fish and meat.

Soak the chips wrap em in tinfoil.. throw em on the barbecue to start smoking.... Once the chips are smoking really good.. turn off the heat and throw some bud in on the rack. Let em smoke dry and enjoy.

You'll destroy most of the THC (evaporation) and make the buds taste like the wood you are smoking with. don't do it...!

That really depends on the temperature of the smoke. If it's 80 degree "cold smoke" as someone said, then why would that degrade the THC? If it's hundreds of degrees then yea you're absolutely right.

I've been doing some more research and found out the that some restraunts smoke cook their food by smoking cherry,hickory, and apple woodchips. I might try to atempt this using a couple grams from my next harvest using a homemade smoker constructed of cedar. Controlling the heat will be the hardest part. If this doesnt work i'll just smoke some beef instead.

im personally going to hang dry my crop in a cool dark humidity controlled closet for about a week and then cure it in a makers mark wiskey barrel for about 2 months give or take
then finely finish it by placing it in mason jars for one more month .thats about 3 and a half months and it sound like a pain in the ass but we take the time to grow my might as well take the time to make it as enjoyable as posable .the better the cure the greater the high the easyer life is to deal with

not true. better taste and smell, it doesnt affect the amount of thc.

Ya know, the original method for smoking weed was making a bigass bonfire out of ganja in the middle of a tent and just letting the teepee fill up with smoke. The ultimate fucking hotbox. Now, if anyone could ever smoke dry weed with weed smoke I'd be really interested.
