My Magical Mobile Micro Medical Marijuana Machine

Hi RIU,

Been lurking for years and this is my first post. Hopefully I didn't already phuck it up somehow....

After numerous fuckups and failures I'm quite happy with the progress I have been making with my little hydro grow box.......so I thought I would share. It sits quietly in my home office, under a window.

It is almost 100% automated. All I do is fill the reservoir when it gets low. The majority of my time is spent training and watching. After the first 2-3 weeks of training it's only watching and waiting. I normally run it without any medium at all. This run has a tiny bit of clay rocks but not much. It's basically an automatic appliance for growing weed.

It is certainly puny compared to what most of you around here do but it serves my individual personal needs well. It is a work in progress that I have been refining for a few years now.

My last run was just over 5 ounces. I'm confident that if I improve my training I can squeeze out 7, possibly 8 ounces. My initial goal was a single ounce! The interior is just over one square foot and just under 2 cubic feet.

My favorite part is the glass door which allows me to watch her without leaving the door open. It has a magnetic cover plate to block the glass for when I'm not around.

I have become sort of an expert while tweaking this thing........an expert at killing pot plants in small, confined spaces!

If you want any advice on how to cook, fry, starve, over water, under water, poison, stunt, or burn your plants, I'm your guy. If you want advice on how to grow a great plant, well, I'm still learning myself......

Oh that’s nifty as hell.. 5 zips eh? That’s fuckin awesome :bigjoint: I’m whipping up a 2x1 mini box with some left over stuff in the garage I’d kill to see like 3oz from what I was thinking up with only 65w of led light

Thanks! My box is similar, roughly 2x1 on the outside, a bit smaller on the inside.

If you really want to maximize this small of a space my advice would be to train her low, hard, and early. Get aggressive. Also, you really need to time the flip. Too early and precious space goes unused. Too late, of course, and she gets too big.

Good luck with your box. If I can be of any help, hmu.

Scoped out a new spot I can take. 2x1x30” tall is the goal.

This is so awesome!!! What a great idea!!! I would love to get further details on how it was built. I'm sure others here would too.

Oh damn I’m just realizing the side light action. That’s sick… now the wheels are really spinning here… how many watts can I cram into ~2.5ft^2 space with 3+ walls of lighting lol

How many watts can you cram in?

Well, you can easily cram in more watts than you need or can use. Believe it or not I have 5 dimmable QB288's running in my little 1 foot by 1 foot. Yes, you read that right, 700 freaking watts light inside of a box no bigger than a small wine fridge.

Needless to say, if I turned everything up to full power my grow box would become an awesome little air fryer instead instead of a weed machine.

I will generally run 20-60 watts up top, depending on the age of the plant. The side lights are right up against my plants so they are usually dialed in anywhere from 5-20W. I am constantly dialing the top and sides up and down in order to see what my plant can take at different stages. I'm still learning but have ample watts to play with.

One of the perks of having a box with a metal exterior is the organization you can get. This is a (shitty) shot of the side of my box. Pictured are many of the tools I use: my dimmer for upper and side lighting, my PPM meter, scissors, essential training tweezers, and some modular strip lighting......all magnetically attached. Keeps it tidy and satisfies my OCD
