My iGROW Induction Lighting Test

Well i pulled the trigger and finally got myself a few iGROW induction lights. i read and read through all the posts and didnt really get to much help as i thought i was going to get in regards to induction lighting. To many sellers posting incognito with b.s. Just asked simple question trying to get some opinions, isn't that what forums are for?

I decided to trust the retail store that is carrying them and talk it through. They got me convinced on igrow real fast they knew their shit.

Still alot of money, but i think this is going to be huge, that is why i am starting this post:

i am going to test side by side my 1000 watt hps system against their bloom bulb. Proofs in the pudding, but if this works i can now wash my clothes when i want to, leave my porch light on all night, energy bill man:idea:

In an effort to keep the comparison as accurate as possible, i am attempting to match the plant strains being grown under both types of lighting strain for strain, but i am only going to be able to do so with 2 or the 3 varieties kept under each light. In order to do so, i am going to use plants that were placed in the flower cycle 11 days apart. The igrow plants are 10 days junior to those under the 1000w hps. But ill remember this on future posts.

Both groups of plants were entered into a transition phase being fed GH grow formula every 4th day.
After 14 days from their entry into the flower cycle, each group was switched to the GH Bloom formula.

So if igrow is telling the truth in this video, im going to be stoked.

I`ve got 2 brightmax 200w induction lights but one of them has a broken tube

I paid around £100 for it was tempted to use it for a grow to test it out I`m guessing the colour at around 5700k but I was going to use it to light my garden at night for non growing but I`m tempted to run a couple of plants under it maybe even use it to even out light cycle times on a 2 to 6 plant outside grow when winter is over.

Induction does give a really nice spread of light.

Konassure, the one thing i learned from all the research i did was that the igrow lights were really tested and designed for growers, not to sure about the 5700k thing, but from what i learned is that these are the only grow specific induction lights and everything else is for commercial lighting. i was sold on the testing they did and the recommendation i got. i believe commercial lights will work ok for vegging but that's only one part of the equation.
thanks for the thread reply and look forward to seeing your data also.
peace out to you in Europe.

Just a quick update for everyone, i am pretty excited so far. Remember the igrow plants are some days behind but they are actually catching up to my 1000 watter plants.
Pretty Cool, seeing high quality flower sites and more important at this stage of bloom amazing quality of growth.

I will get some pictures and measurements this weekend and post first of the week. Hope to continue to see good things.

Peace out

Well i have to say im impressed so far. Had fun this weekend messing around down the basement taking some great data.

Remember that the HPS plants have a 10 day start, that is what makes the measurements to exciting.

Below are the special flavors that i will use abbreviation for: Again remember that i was only able to use the AB and SB comparison. Next test i will be able to have all three the same.

All in all i am pretty impressed with the overall quality of the igrow plants. it may be hard to see in the pictures, but just the leaf color, thickness and you can feel the difference to the touch. pretty cool.

Things i am noticing that are different:

The room temp. is defiantly down. pretty cool, not even using a blower on the igrow light and it has gone down about 8 degrees.

i am not watering the igrow plants as much, taking soil moisture measurements i have to not water as much, it defiantly has to do with the amount of air i am not moving anymore and the lower temps. i am going to monitor this closely for the remainder of the grow.

Learn something every day:shock:

I would like to get some feedback on this topic, so if anyone wants to throw in their 2 cents about moisture content and correlation between feeding schedules that would be a great discussion.

dont want my post to be so one side huh?

peace out

No man you got lots of guys watching its just to new for them. Been looking at induction for about 3 years now lots of guys buy,but you dont seam
to get much feed back. I know they are good for veg im just not sure for flower.I will give them a go soon, the biggest mistake all you guy make
is ( if you don't mind me saying ) there to tall with the lights so good you should pinch out to grow wide small plants induction is only really good for 15 inches
380mm so keep them small for a good few rewards & other reasons ie food supply. SteveyG nice thread keep it up I would keep your fans going need lots of air
moving around them leaves for fresh co2 for your girls to eat.

old grow, thanks for the feedback. Nice to get some real responses and i am going to keep up the hard work and i just got some of the igrow veg lamps and will defiantly take your advise. I will start posting that data as soon as i am ready. I am very confident of the veg also, that is why i am putting so much effort into the bloom side. What i have learned is that this bloom lamp was made specifically for bloom with plant light experts from around the country. but like i keep saying proof is in the pudding, but the pudding is tasting sweet so far.

peace out

Here are the next round of measurements that were taken every 6 days with again a significant difference in their growth rate and development. There is a marked difference in the overall health and color between the two groups. the IGROW plants are noticeably healthier and are a much richer shade of green

in an effort to make a more accurate comparison, bud photos will be taken in 10 days and compared to those from today in order to compensate for the 10 day age discrepancy.

Now that's what I'm talkin about. Pics and journals!

I learned alot from watching the igrow videos. It turns out the 'igrow lights provide better photosynthetic impact to plants than the sun' as confirmed by referenced university research and tests. At 2:26 into this video the sun vs igrow lights for plant lighting is discussed and empirical references are cited.

It's really no wonder you're plants are doing so well. Good job SteveyG and keep those updates coming!
