Ok so I just pulled my first 2 plants dried the budz and got lifted bongsmilie...I started thinking to my self...what would happen if i put a fresh cut limb in food colored water...then i remembered a thread i found here...i believe it was done with blue coloring and said the smoke was harsh...well i decided to try it....with what color you ask....Decepticon PURPLE no doubt...know let me say this...I am in no way trying to make my weed better or more marketable...I do however like to conduct experiments that are a product of my product LOL...any ways I let the limb sit in purple water for 36 hours...the limb was cut of a finishing plant....the color did go into the leaves but not so much the budz...here are some before and after shotz....let me know what you think....happy growing :weed:

I will also be trying the same experiment using a strawberry extract instead of color....I want to see if the flavor transfers into the smoke...Ill post the results of that test and how the purple smoke was after they are done drying

cool experiment for at home personal use i guess. similar to what people do with carnations and other cut flowers. as long as you arent trying to pass it off as superbud to other people and youre just doing it for fun, then its cool.

I actually did that some yrs back bro. Put a lil bit on it, let it dry, kinda like a cure. It will taste like it. I tried vanilla. :) let me know how it goes for u

Did you put the vanilla directly on the bud...or let it absorb through the stem?

Thats exactly what its for...I'm not one of those people trying to fake a great product and sell purple weed to high school kids...I grow for the love of growing and to have my own product...I dont sell at all...When i get some quality product ill trade with grower friends so we can spread the love around lol

OK so i wanted to try strawberry extract to see if the flavor would be retained by the smoke...I ran 2 different methods...first i took 1 small bud and put it into a small plastic container with a cotton ball wet with 5-7 drops of extract...the cotton ball was not soaked and was not leaking liquid...it was sealed and left in the dark for 3 hours...that bud absorbed a good amount of moisture and after removing the cotton ball is now drying...the second 2 buds of medium size were given 2 drops directly on the surface of the bud and also sealed in their own plastic container and left in the dark for 3 hours...the second test group is also drying not having any of the moistures source removed...I will let both test groups dry for the next 8-10 hours...ill post the resulting quality as far as harshness of smoke if any and most importantly any change in the smokes flavor...I'm excited to see how this turns out....stay tuned....happy growing :weed:

ive been thinking of the same strawberry thing for awhile now.. interested to say the least. with that being said, smoking food coloring on a daily basis cant be good.

Yep bro I tried both ways. The cotton ball method has a semi strong smell and really isn't harsh at all. The direct approach is way more stronger!

thanks for all the feedback guys...my extract experiment has almost finished the drying stage...ill be trying the finished product tonight and will let you know how it turned out...The color experiment was fun to see....the color didnt make the smoke harsh at all...but all in all was not really that effective in coloring the bud...most of the color was isolated in the underside of the leaves that where left on the bud...it also made the bud dry much slower....my wife thought it was cool tho and now she wants me to make her some pink bud lol

OK guys so I let the flavor treated buds dry and tried them over the weekend...It was not as bad as i had thought it would be...the smoke was just a little on the harsh side...and the flavor was subtle...Not something you could specifically pick out from the taste...I was able to tell the difference since i have become familiar with how my strain smokes and tastes

i have seen this posted before i think it was fdd. just imagine what gets sucked into the buds when you use non organic nutes espically without flushing.
