ok this is my first grow indoors and hydroponic. ive had 5 awesome seasons outdoor so lets see what i can do!
comments appreciated but will be deleted to keep journal clean.

the setup i started with changed alot. but heres what im using now.
system is a flood sys.
res. 30gal grey opaque tub on top of that i have a 18 gal grey opaque tub sealed off with black plastic around the edges so no light gets through.
waterpump is for an outdoor fountain. 250gal/hr @ 1ft high and is pumped through a 1/2in hose (black). lights are 4xcool blue cfls @ 27w each(plan to add more as they get bigger). pots are a 1qt plastic mesh with bcuzz 1/4in rockwool cubes. nutes, gh 3part micro, gro, and bloom, also using superthrive. 1fan doesnt oscillate but has 3 speeds and does the job. since im using cfls and my house has no heat im using an electric heater for heat and humidity. thats it.

will post the pics i have soon but have to go for now.

taken on 3-7-08 at 915pm. plants are looking more like what im used to seeing for hydro grows in my research. leaves on the bottom have yellowed and died so i cut them with a pair of pruning scisors. watering schedule started havent figured it out completely, but will as i go. i need to water them earlier so i did but i have to watch and wait till i need to agian to figure out how often i need to.

plan to repot in a couple of days. plan on getting hydroton to give the roots the optimal space they need to grow properly plus i can bury those damn stems. HA!

well let me know what you think and advice would be appreciated!

it could be normal. it could be stress. it could be lockout

I heard purple stems are a sign of low temps - but can't verify. the first set of pics - your media was covered as LB suggested - did you remove them permanently or just for the pictures (he is right - they should be covered).

ok i have been a very busy person! my dog has had parvo so ive been in and out of the vet the last couple of days, plus ive been very busy with my babies as well. ok i moved plant no 2 with #1 for lighting situation. ive lowered the lights to 2 in from the top of the tallest plants.the 3rd plant has been topped, buddy thinks its a girl and wants corn nugs (wth why not right, could be couldnt be fem). ive started a regular watering and nute schedule. im hand feeding with 1/4 strength nutes once a day, plus misting. i believe im running out of root space so im wondering what to do. i have no moolah and cant afford to get any hydroton to give them the space they need so im kinda in a sit.. i ponder this thought and would like advice. can i sex them and weed out the males and use theyre grow medium to help out what females i do have? suggestions or advice would be appreciated A.S.A.P.
these pics were taken at 10pm on 3-11. some of them were so pretty i had to take doubles!

I would use hydrogen peroxide in your res water.....about 1 teaspoon per gallon...it will clean your roots up and get rid of a lot of the algae...

algae is basicly clear the rockwool is just stained. they get really dry and i dampen them just a lil i dont think its a problem, but if you say so! what about sexing them for the medium?

i happened in the beginning. i was using a halogen but changed to 4 cfls. since then the spacing is getting better. im wondering if i can sex them or if theyre too small.

Their earlier trauma is showing through now but good job on keeping them alive under some less-than-ideal beginning conditions.

I'm glad to hear you are flowering now as I'm not sure how much bud the plants can handle. I am looking forward to seeing how they finish.

And since you worked out the majority of issues on this grow, every successive grow will get better and better! :leaf:
