This sample pack is the only thing you're gonna get to judge in the off season...lol

Like I said, I'm gonna try to save that last piece of bubble hash in the pic but I make no promises...

no prob man, the 25th isn't that far away so I shouldn't have a problem saving it until then. It's gonna be tough when the only trainwreck I have left is in a jar waiting for you..lol

yeah my wife and I started to go to the cup this year and be judges but then we just decided to save $1000 and go a little sooner. I have several friends who have gone in off season and they have been judges and they all say to go in the off season. Though I think you have to be a judge at least once in your lifetime...
Ive been to amsterdam a total of 4 times, twice for the cup and twice during the off season (by off season I mean january)... I really enjoy it much more during the off season. during the cup it is super crowded in all my favorite coffee shops. and its all american for the most part. that said I did the judge thing twice so obviously I didnt hate it! Loved it as a matter of fact... but if you only go once in your life and you go during the cup I think you will be missing out! To be able to sit and chill in the coffee shops is pretty fucking great and you cannot do that during the cup... ok babbling as usal so Ill end here.

awesome...you made me feel much better about skipping the cup for my first trip. I will definitely go back sometime and be a judge but I thought it would be better checking it out when it's nice & slow around there.

grasshopper is a lil touristy for my taste and bud not great.. although there bubblegum is not bad... My 3 favorite are dekampring (great hash), styx (kinda a local place with great bud and never crowded) green house in the redlight district.. barneys is good with great bud, but always crowded... Picasso was another I liked... as I wright this I relize that there are a ton of the shops I love!!! most of the good ones are off the beaten path though.. ricks in the redlight district across the canal from the greenhouse is a good place to get a beer and some bud, one of the few ya can beer at as well.. I would stay away from the bulldog..

I have a ton of bookmarks on the subject... Here is one that is a pretty good directory of coffee shops.Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory - Cups I forgot to mention the grey area as one of my favorite coffee shops! that is where you can get DNA strains in the dam.. when ya decide to go let me know and I will send you some links for great places to stay!! You can rent a house boat on one of the canals for about the same price as a hotel.. Ive done the boat twice and fn loved it!

lol, u must not actually read my journal. I leave on 8/1/08 for Amsterdam...in 20 days. but I will definitely check out your suggestions!! yeah a houseboat would have been nice and we talked about it but it seemed like a better idea if you had a group of people, but it does like alot of fun.

cool thanks, we will be sure to check them out. next time we go we're renting a house boat cuz I've always wanted to do that even if it's not in Amsterdam, I just want to stay on one for a few nights.

I know ya cant do it this trip, but this is the place I used to get my boat CityMundo Amsterdam - Apartments. Most of them are like peoples houses that they rent out for vacationers and business men. Three of us stayed in this one

This one was a short walk from central station.. not the best location I have stayed in, but that is what I get for letting a friend named MUSH take care of the booking, wasnt that bad really but have had better locations! Here are some pics of the inside.. This boat cost us 48 euro a night per person.

Sorry to be so pic whorish.... But wanted ya to see how cool the boats are perfect for a couple!

Oh and man make sure you bring some GOOD walking shoes!!!! Dont be afraid of the tram but know you will be walking a whole lot!!! and watch out for the bicycles they will fucking plow you!!!!

yea it stays docked the whole time... the one in the pic actually left to get its every 6 year painting 2 days before we left so they put us up on another boat.. it was cool as hell also.. watching them take that boat out was a trip!!! no such thing as coast guard or anything like that! reminded me of watching the crazy coon asses on the bayou with the big fishing barges on the atchafalya basin... We rented a apt last time we went.. it was bad ass!!!! right in the middle of the city and comfy like home!!! Sorry i jacked ya bit here on your journal, but Im pumped for ya and want to try and help ya get the best out of it ya can..
