My first grow ever (with pictures)

So, my fiancee and I decided to grow a plant or two, just kinda messing around to see what will come of it. We planted two different seeds. Not sure what either seed was from, they were the two best looking seeds out of the seed's we've collected over the last couple years.

This is the better of the two so far. It was planted about a week after the first one and it's taking off like.. well, a weed, lol.

This plant is about 3 weeks old now. My camera didn't want to focus properly, I'll take some more pictures tomorrow.

looks a little small for 3 weeks, it also looks a tad overwatered... not drastically so though.

not too be an alarmist, it's hard to tell from the blurry image, but I think I see what might be male parts developing there...

I thought it looked like a flowering male as well... Sorry you might be out of luck on him

yeah, I just transplanted it into a bigger pot not that long ago and the soil just wont dry out. I am not sure if it's a male or not, since this is my first grow and all.

If it is a male, is there any way of getting seeds out of it? Or do you only get seeds from impregnated females?

The other plant is about a week old and much shorter with smaller leaves.

your pots need really good drainage, the roots need to be able to breathe marijuana is kind of picky like that apparently and prone to root rot if they don't dry out now and then.
and the only thing that will produce seeds is a fertilized mature female... and they do it at the cost of thc and bud production.

the plant's primary purpose is basically to grow and reproduce, by allowing a female to be pollenized you kind of ruin it for thc production.
It will still be smokeable , it just won't be anything special.

Sure looks like a male. Streching out like it wasn't getting enough light and causing it to flower early. If you're trying to produce some seed <from another hopefully female you grow> keep him around and collect the pollen. If you have more seed try to start at least a dozen, as a rule about half are gonna be males. That way as you remove the males you'll have a few nice girls to grow and learn with. Best of luck to you guys. And remember security security security... There was a grower just recently busted for sitting his plants on top of his car and got turned in by his nosey neighbors. :peace:
