My First Grow. Bonsai Bagseed

This has been, and still is, an evolving process. I want thank rollitup enough for all the great advise and techniques, information and humor!

I started from seeds on Feb 14th. My plants are now 6 and a half weeks old. I germed 6 seeds, and lost two plants so now I am at 4.

They were vegged under CFLs of various kelvin and wattages as they got bigger. Ended up at 374 W before I moved the grow to a bigger space, and under the loaner (friends) 150W HPS, with supplemental 43W 2700K CFLS (four)

Vitals:

SOIL: started MG Organic choice, up-potted to Fox Farms OF, and they are in their final pots, which are 4G waste bins with holes drilled. I use a layering technique with rocks and sand to both filter and improve drainage.

Light: 24/0 for week 0-2
16/8 for weeks 2-6
12/12 since March 20th

Old space: 374 W Total cfl, 1'x2'x4'h
New space: 322 W total HPS+CFL 20"x36"x6'h

TEMPS: 72-84

NUTES: FF Grow Big, FF Tiger Bloom, Superthrive. Have only used the superthrive and the Grow Big in 1/4-1/2 doses.

WATER: tap water, PH 7.0 schedule: when dry I fill until slight drip. flushed at 4 weeks. My PH was low (6) with the MG soil, and now it has gone up to 6.5 with the FF OF.

I think my plants are undersized for their age, and they suffered some burning in the old grow space while i was away temps got into the 90s, I can tell cause the burned leaf margins appear on similar nodes across all the plants.

Can anyone guess the strains? I have no clue.

These are photos of the better plant, named Desk, in the old space with the boatload of CFLs. They are great but super annoying and no penetrating power. The other plant is Sprite.

the first one is named Sneak, she was first to show hairs and she is being slow to grow.

Next photo shows Desk in the front. Desk has not shown sex yet, but may be a boy, I'm hoping she is a she. Behind Desk is Sprite. Sprite is the healthy one, the biggest fullest and showed sex. Sprite is a sexy lady!

Next up is Sprite from above

Last is Desk again from above

These were taken about 6 days ago, before the final potting but after the move to the bigger space.

well they started alternating at about 6 weeks, 2 of the 4 did. They have only been on 12/12 for about 6 days, I was thinking about going back to 16/8 and veg them longer, but since they showed already I went to 12/12. Can I do that and they will behave?

first photo is a close up of Sprite

another of Sprite

started 3 new seeds March 6th, the next Generation is chilling above my main cab.

I will post more photos with the cab and show the systems integration (vents, lights, elect.)

yeah it will be fine,it will take about a week to fully recover from the light shift. it would be a wise idea to grow them more.

:joint:respect lady ganja and shell give you rewards of her essence:joint:

ok for sure, i was hoping to see a few hairs to make sure they were at least a couple ladies. my timer is already back on 16/8.

What should I do in terms of the nutrients? I have used one 1/2 teaspoon of the FF growbig once a week. Should I up the dosage while its re-vegging? I have not seen symptoms of overferting, although they were in the MG organic choice to start, they are now in FF OF.

just stop the nutes for a few weeks as the chemicals reprosses in the plants core. let the plant do its thing for a few weeks then start the norm feeding again. this way it will allow for a stress free transiton back to veggin.

quick update:

plants are looking great and i will post pics soon. my temps are running on the high side after I added a 23W and a 42W CFL. Anyone notice how much more efficient the 23W are than the 42W bulbs? the 42s put off tons more heat than the 23W, and they are only 900 lumens more, at 2600 lumens compared to the 1700 in my 23W bulbs.

temps are 85 in the main cab and 79 upstairs in the baby dept. i also noticed how localized the heat is under my 150W HPS. much cooler mere inches to the side. I am supplimenting with CFLs as side/top angle lighting. currently running 233W of CFLs and 150W hps. we will see how this goes, as i might need to remove some CFLs to rebalance the temps. My exhaust fan is an 8" vornado with three speed settings. high speed is 2000 RPM, but i cannot find a CFM spec for it. its supposed to move air 65 feet, but right now its blowing 4" to a wall. Im going to relocate the fan arrangement to blow to the open room, and we shall see if the temps lower as i suspect they will.

photo shoot time...

here are some photos.

the little ones are now 2 weeks 6 days since dry beans

as for the veggies:

first plant is named TWO and is probably a hermie

second plant is named SNEAK and showed hairs

third plant is named SPRITE and is the healthiest one. she also showed hairs and has great clone making potential. she could wind up a little mother if she wants

last plant is named DESK and was the first to look healthy, and hasnt shown much of anything other then leaves. Desk has very long and red/purple stiples at each node.

I will be happy to answer any and all questions and also am looking for feedback or advise, im open for discussion!

Hey RIU, plants are looking great. Here is whats happening:

SOIL: FF OF
TEMPS: 74-79
LIGHTS: 150W HPS and multi CLFs
NUTES: FF Grow Big
WATER: PH 7.0, water when needed

Large plants are in week 8 of veg from seed. I stopped LSTing one of the plants which was before, and it loved the freedom. Too bad I think its a male.

Small plants are thriving at 3 weeks and almost ready to re-pot

As always, photos to come!

APRIL 2 2009

Yeah, so I got a little :eyesmoke:, and didnt take the pics last night. Here they are. ENJOY!

Please post your comments/suggestions/and whatnot.

I moved the second largest plant outside to the warm sun of my balcony, I think it is a male. I am going to use it as an experiment to see how it likes the outdoors, and if all goes well I will be cloning the big mama and vegging some little ladies for a fall outdoor extravaganza. Looks like the big mama has some decent genetics for bagseed.

Im guessing I have some Indica dominate plants, but perhaps one is a Satvia.
Can anyone tell me my STRAINS?
